Nathan Neudorf
Lethbridge East MLA
Dear friends and neighbours,
As Christmas approaches, it’s a time to reflect on the year behind us and look forward to the opportunities ahead. This season is a great reminder of the strength and resilience of our Lethbridge community and the importance of coming together in generosity and kindness.
Lethbridge shines brightly during the holidays—not only with festive lights and decorations, but with the spirit of togetherness that defines our city. Programs like Christmas Hope, which unites six local agencies to support families in need, and initiatives like the Giving Machines at Park Place Mall, show what can be achieved when we work hand in hand. These efforts reflect the heart of Lethbridge: a community that cares deeply for its people.
We’ve also seen a lot of progress for both Lethbridge and Alberta—particularly when it comes to Alberta’s energy future. As Minister of Affordability and Utilities, I was able to witness the signing of the new Alberta-Canada Energy Agreement, a memorandum of understanding to secure long-term economic security and work towards turning Canada into an energy superpower.
This agreement scrapped the Clean Electricity Regulations, which is a huge win for our province. Had these regulations stayed in place, they would have increased electricity prices by 35 per cent and made our power grid 100 times less reliable, according to analysis by the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO). The regulations also created investment uncertainty for power generators, and with their suspension, we’re unlocking about $18 billion in new natural gas investment that will ensure the reliability and affordability of our power grid.
While much attention has been focused on pipelines, We’ve also committed to collaborate with the federal government on developing a nuclear generation strategy that can serve Alberta and our inter-connected markets by 2050. This aligns with the nuclear energy engagement process that is already underway in our province, and I hope everyone in Lethbridge and across Alberta has their say on how nuclear energy might fit into our energy mix by visiting Alberta.ca/nuclear-energy-engagement.
As we celebrate this season of giving, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the people of Lethbridge-East. Serving as your MLA is an honour, and I am inspired daily by your perseverance, innovation, and kindness. Looking ahead to the New Year, I remain committed to building on this momentum, continuing to advocate for the needs of our community, while ensuring that all Albertans have access to affordable, reliable and sustainable utilities now and for generations to come.
To every resident of Lethbridge-East, I wish you a Merry Christmas filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful connections. May 2026 bring health, happiness, and prosperity to you and your loved ones.
Thank you for being the heart of our incredible community.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We want the rate cap back on electricity prices, which the UCP ended.
