UCP government doing the opposite of what Albertans want

By Lethbridge Herald on December 13, 2025.

When Albertans have said:
• we don’t want to lose the Canadian Pension Plan
• don’t want a provincial police force
• don’t want to harm gender diverse kids • don’t want to see books banned
• don’t want to separate from Canada • don’t want private health care
• don’t want the public health care system dismantled
• don’t want to use the notwithstanding clause to ram through legislation
• don’t want corporations to strongarm land use planning
• don’t want taxpayers to pay for the petroleum industry’s pollution cleanup • don’t want the education curriculum set by corporations and ideological entities
• don’t want erosion of public education, don’t want university funding cut to satisfy some twisted ideological pursuit
• don’t want to see standards for professionals diminished
• don’t want the role of rural and urban municipalities usurped
• don’t want development of green energy sources stymied
• don’t want our parks and protected areas stripped of legislative protection • don’t want the forests of the Eastern Slopes turned into sawdust and sediment, don’t want to see funds cut for recipients of social assistance
• don’t want private hunt farms for wealthy gunners
• don’t want the commercialisation of wildlife
• don’t want coal mines in the Eastern Slopes
• don’t want lobbyists and insiders profiting at the expense of Albertans
• don’t want our limited water used by AI data centres
• don’t want regulators handcuffed by political intervention
• don’t want to pay foreign coal companies vast amounts of money that could have been settled within existing legislation
• don’t want coal exploration footprints left for the public to restore
• don’t want a MAGA-styled government * don’t want a government that responds only to a minority of right wing voices * don’t want forums, surveys, and polls with preconceived answers
• don’t want to see immunity granted for bad political decisions
• don’t want democracy threatened by criticisms of the judicial system
• don’t want politics guided by ideology instead of evidence
• don’t want endless political chaos.

What has the UCP done?

The UCP has done exactly the opposite in all cases. Begs the question: in whose interest are they operating? We never asked for and likely would never have approved of these decisions. Maybe we should ask for a government that provides what most Albertans want.

It’s a thought worth pursuing.

Say What . . .

So many areas where you are so very very wrong in your rant! Where to start!
Let’s begin with the RCMP! When the contract ends in 2032 the RCMP could be moving away from contract policing such as we have in many provinces and territories, and focus more on specialized services! So you do you want to just wait and when the contract ends in 2032, we are stuck without our contracted police services by the RCMP in Alberta? This is not the UCP doing this, it is the feds!
READ:
https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/2025-mdrn-rcmp-grc/index-en.aspx
“Canada’s role in supporting provinces in their delivery of policing services must evolve. The federal government should be committed to working closely with Provinces to support a transition away from contract policing, while maintaining strong interoperability with federal policing. The expiration of current Police Services Agreements in 2032 presents the first opportunity for implementing this next phase of policing in Canada. The work to define provincial needs and solutions should begin now. The Provinces have the needed expertise and knowledge of their jurisdictions and community safety needs – and should be on a path to fully exercise their responsibilities over policing. They are best placed to define their own policing models, including interactions with the social services and programs that they deliver, with a view to better outcomes and service delivery for communities. These are complex and challenging processes. Ultimately federal resources should focus on delivering the federal mandate to significantly enhance RCMP capacity to address federal challenges.”
There appears to be too many other ‘uneducated’ points you made that it would take a book to debunk your NDP propaganda you are spewing!
I have never seen so many uneducated, misled sheep all grouped together in one party, the NDP! Do you not research or understand anything!
And you all seem to think that because you said you are against ‘it’ then all Albertan’s are against! No wonder we are so undivided! I cannot believe what is happening with so many people so easily being misled by disinformation.
When the insurrectionists are led by a political party who cannot win an election legally, democratically, but have to abuse acts such as the recall act and employ unions and special interest groups to protest, impacting all of us just to gain power, I would be very very concerned on what THEY will do to our province! If you can’t get elected on your own merit, but have to seize power by insurrection?
But that is what cultural Marxist socialists do! The NDP likes to bankrupt provinces, pushing business/corporations out by overtaxing them, increasing unemployment while increasing social programs, with no revenue to pay for those programs, then roads and other infrastructure falls into disrepair and we start to lose services, we depend on! I watched it happened to provinces on both sides of Alberta.
Then there is their harm reduction and Supervised Drug Consumption Sites that enable and encourage addicts, and have proven to increase the numbers of addicts, the number of fatal overdoses and the number of devastated families who have lost loved ones along with sucking billions of taxpayer dollars while doing so! The NDP have destroyed BC and there is a reason why the federal NDP lost its official party status because they lost most of their seats in the last election!
Alberta is in a fight to counter impacts from tariffs and as we wait for the true colors of the Carney to shine through, Mr. Net Zero himself, and kill our economy, with no other viable industry to replace it, our government is in a major battle to bring prosperity to our province to pay for all the services and social programs the unions demand and the NDP give me’s demand.
NDP = My name is Jimmie and I will take all you give me! And if you don’t give me and I will just take it!
The question is how much foreign influence is behind Nenshi and his insurrectionists and the unions?? And, a young lady who is paying for her student loans and is a new treacher, told me the ATA donatedseveral million dollars to the NDP this year and she was angry she and other teachers were not given the opportunity to vote on that, since those funds came from union dues! Did any come from foreign ‘donors’.
Some foreign influence is made to destabilize Canada, and that includes Alberta! Why?

Southern Albertan

Hear, hear Lorne Fitch! Could not be said better! Thanks again!

Southern Albertan

Folks should also be aware of a classic, manipulative Trump strategy used by the UCP of using tactics (constant and daily) to “overwhelm the courts and the public with constant policy changes. It’s known as using ‘flooding the zone strategy’ to push agendas.” I, for one, refuse to be intimidated, and used, by this strategy.

A list every Albertan should cut out and tape to the fridge until the next election – at which time we will all actually know the UCP platform (that was concealed during the last election).

And despite avoiding byelections through the cynical manipulation of recalls by the UCP, I hope they are forced to face the people sooner than later.
