Local MLA needs to show better communication

By Lethbridge Herald on January 30, 2026.

In Alberta, there are currently approximately 27 recall efforts underway, including one targeting Nathan Neudorf. This widespread dissatisfaction signals significant concern among constituents, regarding the performance and actions of their elected officials.

When a community opposes a politician’s policies, it reflects a failure to improve the district and a tendency to hide behind the Premier, whose decisions have been notably poor and misguided. The repeated use of the Notwithstanding Clause—four times—demonstrates an inability to govern effectively and to collaborate with all parties. Such actions are indicative of a province leaning towards authoritarianism. The United Conservative Party (UCP) appears determined to implement policies that negatively impact many Albertans, prioritizing their own interests over those of the public.

Nathan Neudorf has supported Bill 14, which grants Justice Minister Mickey Amery unfettered legal authority.   If the Justice Minister takes personal issue with an individual, he can use the law as a tool to take them to court. This represents a clear abuse of power.

Nathan’s local office seems unwilling to address complaints, instead directing constituents to contact his Edmonton office. After leaving 27 messages with the Edmonton number, I have yet to receive any response. This lack of communication raises the question of whether something is being concealed. It is evident that there is a reluctance to be held accountable or to answer questions from the public.

No voter is immune from the actions of the UCP. Their fundraising emails have included instances of racial profiling, and they are actively promoting American values. The party supports separatist ideas while misrepresenting their intentions to First Nations leaders, showing little understanding of the Treaties that would prevent any move toward separation. There is also concern that the UCP may disregard court rulings that clearly state, “no separation without First Nations consent.” The party’s close association with controversial American politics further erodes trust.

This is Canada, and the actions of the UCP are a betrayal to our country. Should their tactics fail, they could face legal consequences. The term “sedition” comes to mind in considering the seriousness of undermining Canadian unity and law.

Now is the ideal time for Nathan Neudorf and other Alberta politicians facing recall to start returning calls and addressing the concerns of their constituents. Albertans deserve responsiveness and accountability from their elected representatives.

Be better, Nathan, and fulfill the duties that taxpayers expect of you.  Your resignation might be better, or an early election would be better still.
