By Letter to the Editor on April 1, 2021.
Editor: Well, no doubt my letter last week has touched a nerve with some readers. Unfortunately there seemed to be no response from the industry I was pointing out for non-compliance to
COVID restrictions unless for some reason The Herald is censoring the responses from readers. I have been supported by everyone I know, many who work in the retail work force. It is what it is. Don’t shoot the messenger.
Another week goes by and again I witness workers and customers in the industrial area that still do not comply.
As for the people who feel I discriminated (against) them, I do not apologise as I continue to see them totally ignoring COVID restrictions so if you don’t like to be pointed out, then follow the rules .
For example, stay home unless necessary. Also maintain social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands when entering a business.
I and many others do not care how fat your wallet is like the store owners do.
As for me being a redneck, nope, I do not qualify as I do have a education, I have morals and I’m not uneducated.
As a person coming from the east coast I will say we have been harassed discriminated, belittled by all corners of this country.
So please don’t lay a racist card towards me.
I really like the saying “the more people I meet in life the more I like my dog.”
Perhaps others should also take a good look in the mirror.

So just to be clear: uneducated people and those who are not “not uneducated” are qualified rednecks then?
Well, we are noticing quite a high number of folks in our southern Alberta community not wearing a mask in public places, i.e. the post office, certain places of business, etc. Thus, the mask law is obviously not being enforced in these areas. And, COVID rates have been increasing every day in this community. So, I guess consequences will be suffered if restrictions are not followed, obviously. COVID is no ‘lover’ of persons, and now, younger folks are ending up in ICU on ventilators, and even dying.
I was agreeing with you until 1/2 way through when you went off on a tangent. I follow the health recommendations of AHS and wish other people would more, but i won’t belittle them or outright attack them if they don’t. Stay away From them? You bet I will. You seem to think “redneck” means uneducated or lack of morals? It’s an attitude or a way of seeing the world. Through my life I have dealt with my fair share of the smartest/stupidest people. Take what you will from that
From your letter(s) I must conclude that both you and our industrial area folk would be best served if you stayed away. Or maybe went back to your real home back eastways. But based on your comments you don’t really like any people, do you? You can leave your dog, us rednecks like our dogs, even those many of us that have degrees AND life experience.
If you are so educated which would refer to as knowledgable, use it in a useful way! not judge people, and not know what you’re talking about. Or perhaps you’re no smarter than your dog, (not that dogs are dumb) but they bark at strangers, that’s all your doing.
