Many continue to remember the sacrifices of those who served Canada

 Another Remembrance Day has passed and hopefully our war veterans can continually be memorialized and remembered throughout the year. Many companies, service groups, entities and individuals continue to remember the sacrifices our vets gave us to enjoy the freedom we have. Service groups such as the AN&AF Club and the Legion have year-round functions honouring our vets. 

The Lethbridge Herald provides year-round stories regarding our vets. Yvonne Sugimoto with Last Post tirelessly searches year-round for unidentified veteran grave sites. School children create art through the year for the veteran grave sites.Too many to name all, but thank you to all who remember. 

When Canada called, these brave men and women took up the call. All had plans of returning home after the war to families, homes, jobs and a better way of life. Many did not. 

Individually we can continue the Remembrance Day recognition year-round.

Our veterans are a humble group. Seldom will they ask or seek help. Yet after serving their country during times of war there are countless that are homeless and living on the streets. It is heartening to hear that there are communities providing some type of housing, food banks and financial assistance for our veterans.

Veterans have many stories to tell and share. If you see or know a vet, take the time to listen to their stories. They won’t be around forever. 

Thank you to every veteran hero that allows us to enjoy this wonderful country. Thank you. Thank you so much.
