This article is an interesting statistical read. It mentions a group called Public Interest Alberta. They call to end private and charter school funding, and use the crutch that extra funding is used to run charter schools.
The referred to article spells out clearly that that is not the case. The public system spends $13,234 per student, the charter system $8,950. The main difference is the charter school societies fundraise and pay for their own capital expenditures of their buildings, and have no problem with that.
I have experienced and worked with the Taber school system’s public, Catholic and Taber Christian charter schools for many years, and witnessed the very good community-spirited co-operation. The Taber community is blessed with a parent’s choice of where they want their children educated.
Thank you, Taber, for the spirit of co-operation.
