Covering the cost of displaying art

By Letter to the Editor on February 20, 2020.

I enjoyed reading in The Herald on Feb. 7 about the art the city has collected and would like displayed.

The part that concerns me is the comment that there is no money to display the pieces of art. In life, if we need money, we often sell off something to cover the cost. If we have lots of art, and have no room to display it, wouldn’t it make sense to sell a few pieces off to cover any costs such as places to display it, security, wages for an organizer, etc.? One or two pieces should do the trick if they are as valuable as the article claims.

I am hoping the article was not a preamble to asking the city for money to cover the costs.

I must say the City has done a great job with beautification of the city with art around the downtown area. So much better than a big blue circle!
