Free downtown parking would help

By Letter to the Editor on May 6, 2020.

The April 30 Lethbridge Herald headline says “City must get creative to help business.” OK, here’s a suggestion from a guy who rarely shows himself in the downtown area for a variety of reasons (safety near the top of my concerns). Safety aside, could getting “creative” include free parking, so we don’t have to worry about an expensive ticket while enjoying a coffee with buddies, or picking up flowers for a sick friend in the hospital?

Listen up, business community – your city council will not do this willingly; they’re as addicted, as any dope addict, to taxing the living hell out of everything that moves. This initiative must come from you, Mr. and Mrs. Businessperson. Being “creative” should not entirely be about dreaming up new “creative” obfuscating methods to move my money around without me noticing.

You look out for me – I’ll come back and look after you.

the city needs revenue and is somewhat short sighted.
