COVID protection doesn’t only involve Canada

By Lethbridge Herald on December 26, 2020.

Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief public health officer, recently announced that: “This pandemic has demonstrated that inequities in our society place some populations — and ultimately, all Canadians at risk. No one is protected from the risk of COVID-19 until everyone is protected.”
This doesn’t mean only within Canada: as long as the virus circulates, it can return as quickly as it first arrived, and so those nations that cannot afford to battle the virus on their own need help. The World Health Organization has suggested rich countries provide just one per cent of their total COVID-19 expenditures to defeat COVID-19 everywhere.
The most recent studies suggest that COVID-19 immunity lasts less than six months; unless Canada steps up with our one per cent share of funding, COVID-19 will return again and again, an outcome costing far more than the current one per cent request.

the stupidest inaction of all throughout covid is allowing int’l travel. worse still, int’l travel has been going on as if nothing is going on: no real measure of testing for covid, so selfish fools have continued to arrive here from covid hotspots. covid did not originate here; it came from far away. we can thank int’l travel for our cases, and our deaths. we can thank our moronic govts for allowing int’l travel and for not even enforcing covid testing for all arrivals, and for not enforcing 14 day quarantines. this has [roved to be the biggest disservice to the most vulnerable, and to many business owners and workers whose incomes have been crushed by ignorant and idiotic decisions by govts.
