Art changes the world

By Letter to the Editor on March 20, 2021.

Editor: I am not a Liberal Party supporter; never voted for them. But I dislike the way some people call Justin Trudeau a “former drama teacher” to mock him.
Drama, as in many forms of art, is important for the quality of life. It forces us to advance our skills in thinking.
Also it teaches us to communicate better. It also helps us to look into our life in depth.
When you call someone a drama teacher as an insult, you are only exposing your lack of wisdom.
Powerful politicians of all colours are often excellent artists: Winston Churchill was an artist as a painter, an orator, and a writer that made him a powerful politician and the leader of free world.
He saved civilization from fascism. If you make fun of Ronald Reagan calling him a “former movie actor,” you have overlooked his awesome skill in communication. He helped to bring about a profound change to the world which we now call “neo-liberalism.” Politics is the theatre that changes the world. Charlie Chaplin was a philosopher and a social critic, not at all just a funny man on the silver screen. His social criticism was so cutting and effective that the mighty American establishment was mightily threatened and had to kicked him out of the country, and kept him out for decades. In the end Chaplin won. He received “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the “Academy.” I often attend drama and music performances at the university. I notice every time the students active in performing arts excel also in academic disciplines. Ability to memorize one whole book to perform in a drama alone proves their mental capacity. Millions of years ago, our ancestors made art on the wall of the cave. Art is what makes us human, because it makes us imagine and think. Art nurtures creativity and productivity. Belittle it at your peril.

Mr Matsui. You have too much time on your hands, and apparently a lack of listeners to your sage advice, if you couch a defence of trudy’s violent incompetence within an oration on politics. Whew. Go enjoy your yard this early spring. No more justifying blackface justin.

Southern Albertan

Agreed….this article might be helpful to recognize what it takes to be an actor:
“20 Celebrities With Ridiculously High IQs”
http://www.tvovermind.com/20-celebrities-ridiculously-high-iqs
And, not to forget, if money talks, many of these folks are actors and, very, monied.
There is this sentiment that ‘the arts’ and ‘arts’ degrees are ‘nothing degrees. For example, we have a right wing voting acquaintance who acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English. That acquaintance got themselves a really great job as a speech writer for an Alberta politician.
For me, I have a high IQ but my skills certainly do not include acting, particularly improv, nor speechwriting. It’s a matter of accepting everyone for who they are, with respect. Many folks with varying skills makes the world spin.

Tad you say you are not a Liberal supporter? That maybe but you are definitely in the Liberal supporter “Bull Pen.”

Fedup Conservative

This coming from a guy who loved supporting Liberal Ralph Klein and believes every lie Liberal Jason Kenney feeds him and some how that makes him a lot smarter than the rest of us.
Way to go johnny just keep telling the world how ignorant you are. It gives the Conservatives in my world something to laugh about. thanks.
Supporting Liberals pretending to be Conservatives doesn’t make you look very smart, does it?

Blah blah blah! must be time for your meds again FC!

Fedup Conservative

Once again no facts to prove I’m wrong, just smart ass comments, it’s all he has. Kenney’s popularity falls to 17% from 61% yet Johnny is still supporting him and believing every lie he feeds him, what a hero.

Unlike a lot of other Albertans he isn’t man enough to admit he made a huge mistake in supporting him.
As a friend says you can’t question his intelligence he has none. Please keep it up Johnny it does give us something to laugh about.
