Wheels of justice have turned for St. Patrick’s Church

By Letter to the Editor on March 20, 2021.

Editor:
The Calgary Catholic Diocese under the Guidance of now retired Bishop Henry closed St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for the last 10 years for no viable reason.
The Vatican has disagreed with the Diocese and agreed with the Parishioners who brought forward a grievance against this closure.
St. Patrick’s is no longer a shuttered church. It will be interesting to see what ensues from this edict.
In this case “The Wheels of Justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine”.
It did indeed.

This is an important decision. St. Patrick’s church is one of the oldest in Lethbridge and certainly *the* most beautiful of all churches. It should have a historical designation. You walk into that church and you are immediately transported to a better more serene place. I hope it will open and remain open not only for services but regularly through the week for the public to use as a haven of reprieve from the hustle and bustle of daily life in order to regroup and centre then go back out into the world renewed and refreshed to continue doing good work in this life.
