Colonies not to blame for COVID

By Letter to the Editor on March 26, 2021.

Editor:
In a letter to the editor on March 16, there was some information being spread about the colonies and outside people bringing the COVID-19 virus into Lethbridge, which is totally false.
I would like to have Pat Berthelot check the numbers that The Herald prints in every paper breaking up the South zone Covid numbers into different counties and areas in southern Alberta.
Most of the zones where the colonies are situated in are very low or almost zero covid cases, (good work guys) except Cardston county, and those cases are in the town of Cardston. (I’ll leave that there).
So most of the cases being in Lethbridge and Lethbridge County, and you are blaming outside people and colonies for that? Give your head a shake man. What a rude and totally unfounded accusation. Shame on you.
I was offended by that accusation and being called a redneck. I have no problem with people wearing masks or adhering to the medical guideline that the health professionals want us all to follow, but If I’m in a vehicle with my family, I am not wearing a mask and don’t plan to start.
I feel all the colony people are respectful of the rules and are all wearing masks in any place of business and other establishments, and you bragged about wanting people to start an argument so you can “rip many of them a new butt.” Now that is a redneck attitude, If you want to see a redneck, just look into a mirror.
Naming people whom you don’t know a redneck is like a kettle calling a pot black.
So Mr. Berthelot, do your homework before you write any more nasty letters and targeting people who have done you no harm. And I feel that The Herald should not have accepted that letter and rejected it as well.
