Volunteer Week celebrates efforts of those who support our communities

By Letter to the Editor on April 14, 2021.

Editor: Every year we dedicate a little time to highlight and honour individuals and groups who seek to make the world a better, brighter place.
This year is no exception, although we aim to be louder and bolder than ever before when we praise and recognize the millions of people around the globe who are working tirelessly to improve their communities.
The 2021 theme for National Volunteer Week is ‘The Value of One, The Power of Many’, recognizing the power of the people, organizations and sectors working collaboratively to help support family, friends and community, stand against systemic racism, and nurture a diverse and inclusive community for all to have a place in.
So many have stepped up, answering the call, raising their voices so all can be heard, echoing the hopes and aspirations of those who struggle to be seen.
We celebrate you.
To those who needed to make the tough decision to step away, to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.
We celebrate you.
During National Volunteer Week, we also wish to recognize the endless efforts of organizations, corporations, schools, and government bodies that are champions of the volunteer spirit.
We celebrate you.
One individual’s spark is all it takes to light the flames of change, to bring awareness to critical issues that demand to be answered.
Collaboratively, we shine as bright as the sun.
We celebrate your light.
Thank you to all who give their time, passion, and light so that we might all see a brighter future and the endless possibilities of a better tomorrow yet to come.
A message from Volunteer Lethbridge to the community during National Volunteer Week, April 18th-24th.
