Anti-maskers cannot expect total freedom in society

Editor: All the people waving flags and shouting slogans ‘no masks, no closure of churches ‘ in the name of freedom are a bunch of irresponsible, reckless and self- centred humans who have no regard for human lives excepting their own.
Do they realize that their freedom ends when their actions cause harm to others? There is strong evidence that not wearing masks, crowding churches and other gatherings spread COVID-19 as well as other strains. The rest of us are making sacrifices to prevent the pandemic from getting worse by holding up measures like mask wearing , distancing and not visiting our loved ones .
These flag carrying, shouting, reckless humans need to be reminded that with every freedom comes a corresponding responsibility. In a society we are accountable for the welfare of all others. If someone wants total freedom, he/she should live on an isolated island, throw away the mask in the sea and enjoy total freedom.
But if you live in a society, you can never achieve total freedom of speech or action .
Do these people read newspaper, listen to radio or watch TV? Are they aware how disastrous the COVID crisis is? Hospitals are full of miserable patients , ICUs are overflowing with critically ill people who are fighting for their breath. The great front-line doctors, nurses and aides are totally exhausted and traumatized. Many have succumbed to COVID.
Most tragically. all the people who have lost loved ones to COVID, are plunged in the darkness of never ending grief .
The hospitals are inches away from collapsing .
Does this tragic scenario touch these ‘ antimask people ? If not, are their hearts made of stones?
Without collective compassion for common good, society or civilization can not exist .
We are witnessing an unprecedented war against a potent and brutal enemy ,the corona virus . Right now sacrifices are needed without which this war can not be won . Our nation is in peril as never before .All citizens ,act as you should to defeat this abominable enemy for the good of your family ,society ,and your beloved country.

it is a free society that is suddenly seeking control of its citizens. it was tried with climate change and the invasive aura of gun control and has now succeeded with an element of fear instituted by a man made virus. just wait there is more coming down thw pike.
