Budget decisions the reason doctors and other healthcare workers leaving Alberta

By Letter to the Editor on June 25, 2021.

Editor:
Minister of Alberta Health Tyler Shandro must be living in a cloud if, as his recent letter to the editor Wednesday 23 June suggests, he believes that COVID circumstances are the central cause of a destabilized healthcare workforce in our Province.
It is evident to the majority of Albertans that the UCP’s budget decisions and outright hostility expressed towards public sector workers are determining factors causing physicians, in addition to other highly educated or trained health care workers, to flee the province.
An aggressively negative labour policy environment generated by the current government does not bode well for recruitment and retention of any skilled professionals including in healthcare, elementary, and advanced education.

Probably has more to do with retirements, some taking medical leave, and regulations regarding recruitment from other locations (countries). The first two are pretty much non negotiable, however, the third, recruitment, could use some work, collaboratively.

This Red Neck Has No Neck

In July 2020, so a year ago, the AMA surveyed its membership and found that 40% of the respondents were considering leaving the province. Given the survey was administered in light of the Province’s decision to go to war with the docs (among other groups), the suggestion that retirements and medical leaves are in play is quite a stretch.

Well said Carol you have nailed it. These Reformers don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves and their rich friends. Too bad Buckwheat isn’t smart enough to understand it. Making up excuses for them doesn’t make you look very smart, does it?

When Klein pulled this same stunt , destroying our health care and education systems even his own father Phil and daughter Angie tried to help us vote him out to put a stop to it. Fools like Buckwheat wouldn’t let us.
They only people my senior conservative friends and I see still supporting these phony conservatives Reformers are our some of our fellow seniors who just aren’t smart enough to understand it.

Once again Fed Up shows his moronic intellect. Failure to realize there are other conditions other than his usual hate filled diatribe against seniors and conservative governments. The irony, he continues to collect his retirement benefits while crapping in gin his own nest. We have had enough, the older you get the more childish you become.

Fedup Conservative

Let’s guess you haven’t noticed that the majority of Albertans don’t agree with you but you just keep making up your idiotic comments, showing the world what a fool you are, but please don’t stop you give the true conservatives in my world some really good laughs.
Trying to defend a well know Liberal , turned Reformer in Jason Kenney who has never been a true conservative doesn’t make you look very smart, does it?

Fedup Conservative

The only conditions are Jason Kenney deliberately looking after his own well being and that of his rich friends, slashing their corporate taxes by some $9.4 billion and promising to once again destroy our health care and education systems like Klein did, or haven’t you noticed?

Well done Carol. Thank you for speaking out. Mr. Shandro obviously has his own political beliefs, which he is entitled too, as we all are (thankfully) With the possibility of Bill C -10 it appears the free speech we currently are entitled to may disappear). Hopefully the Senate will delay this bill long enough that it will become an election issue and it will be defeated by the people. I hate to think that all politicians are so misguided, deluded. It appears all politicians from every political party become so consumed and driven by their own self interests, and only their self interests (re-election)and not constituent needs and by outdated ideology they may be considered brainwashed, and then try their best to brain wash their constituents.
The UCP (and sadly it appears all politicians become masters of spin and deception. The Indigenous people were absolutely correct when they claimed the white leaders spoke with deformed tongues (I am not going to state the original Indigenous saying out of respect and risk of offending these people any more than they already have been by “white leaders”.
There may be some politicians who start off genuinely believing they can make a difference for the better however it appears they quickly become bullied and ostracized enough to become quiet little puppets who keep their mouths shut and tow the party line. Carolyn Bennet is a prIme example of this through her recent offensive comments to Jodie Wilson – Raybo regarding “Pension” It appears the one word which is the primary motivating factor to becoming a politician ( Ms. Bennet is already eligible for hers).
I am being somewhat rude and making perhaps unfair generalizations, done primarily in retaliation for the hypocrisy exhibited by the UCP, NDP, and all federal political parties. Mr. Shandro was well versed in the art of “Spin Doctoring” during his previous career prior to becoming a politician. A political pension just becomes the icing on the cake, topping of a long (perhaps even successful career) It’s a good gig if you can get it.
I recognize I have changed the subject. It is just i am dreading the thought of another federal election I am lumping all politician in the same pot(perhaps unfairly).
A friend of the family sent this recently, which I think is brilliant. Please take a look
Warren Buffett, “I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

Let’s adjust this for Canada

*Parliamentary Reform Act

  1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Member of Parliament collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
  2. Members of Parliament (past, present & future) participate in the Canadian Pension Plan. All funds in the Parliamentary retirement fund move to the CPP system immediately. All future funds flow into the CPP system, and Parliament participates with the Canadian people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
  3. Members of Parliament can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Canadians do.
  4. Members of Parliament will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Parliamentary pay will rise by the lower of CPI 3%.
  5. Members of Parliament must equally abide by all laws they impose on the Canadian people.
  6. All contracts with past and present Members of Parliament are void effective immediately. The Canadian people did not make this contract with Members of Parliament. Members of Parliament made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Parliament is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term’s, then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in Canada) to receive the message. Maybe it is time. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX PARLIAMENT!!!!!

Fedup Conservative

The two clowns are still at it . Haven’t been smart enough to understand what these Reformers have planned for them while they kiss their butts. O’Toole is promising to cut $36 Billion off the provinces health care payments to force all Canadians into a privatized health care system, like my American relatives are in.
I’m sure these seniors won’t mind paying $800. per month each, or $9,600. per year or $19,200. for a senior couple. He is also promising to eliminate the CBC that many Canadians still rely on.
Now watch me get attacked by these fools for pointing out the true, they love Reformers pretending to be conservatives and don’t care what they do to us while they give away our oil and tax wealth to their rich friends.

The miniters should understand that people in Alberta are not rich enough to spend unreasonably. In this pandemic, the people only expected medical support from govt and that too they provided at a heavy cost. I wanted to write a report about this issue so I took help over at this website where top writers are available to suggest and support. With a minimal detailng and cost they presented a masterpeice to me.
