Doris Lessing words serve as perfect synopsis about socialism

The March 24th letter titled “The political circus will be leaving town” I thought must be some snippet of a greater paradoxical howler for the comedy group, perhaps the one following said “circus”. 

For alas, the paradox (albeit not provincial) is that our federal shifty lefty Liberals and hard-core lefty NDP never much in love with each other – former “distrusting”, hate fueled political foes, have in the past week themselves “cobbled together” a political alliance – hmm, perhaps to ward off the line “if they didn’t hang together they would, assuredly, hang separately” – said will be the fate of the UCP and “old PC?”

 Harbouring no particular favour for any of them – left, right, centre, north, south, west, or east – I puzzled then recognizing the writers name, said “Ahh I know from where this comes – there’s a manual.” 

It’s the “other side” (of a near totally corrupted political system) parading its reckless “visceral passion” once again. Doris Lessing, a former Communist, told us all about the methodology at play in one of five Massey lectures of long ago. In one of those grand and passionate pronouncements, later published, Ms. Lessing described in perfect form “………the evil ones have to be hounded to their deaths or ‘re-educated’.”

Somewhat an intellectual, Ms. Lessing, lived the hell offerings of Socialism/Communism; even got taken in by it all for a period. Later “woke” she delighted in warning vast audiences of the dark social/political and economic disaster that looms – the “sheer madness” of it. 

Quote: “We believed everyone in the world would be living in harmony, love, plenty, and peace – for ever. This was insane, and yet we believed it, such groups continually spring into existence everywhere; have periods when such beliefs are their diet while they hate and persecute and revile anybody who does not agree with them.”

Perfect synopsis Ms. Lessing – history serves as pallbearer – proof of the present and past sheer hell of a classless, helpless, aimless, society, courtesy of the fascist feudal system that guiltlessly reduces the servant to complete bondage and servitude controlling every movement – everything! 

Be wary, be warned!
