Another wave of COVID-19 coming in fall as Smith promises to end lockdowns

By Lethbridge Herald on August 24, 2022.

Editor:

Danielle Smith has stated there will be no more COVID-19 lockdowns when she becomes premier on Oct. 6.

Medical researchers and doctors agree there will be a wave of the COVID-19 variant BA 5 in the fall when people spend more time indoors.

Our vaccines are less effective against infection from this new variant but give excellent protection against hospitalization; and there are also new medicines to treat COVID patients if they get to the hospital five days after infection. BA 5 spreads extremely fast – if the most protected man in the world – President Joe Biden – can get COVID-19, anyone can.

Relevant statistics about COVID restrictions, from three sources: New York Times, Johns Hopkins University and the World O Meters data site.

Florida, with a population of 22 million, has had 78,750 COVID deaths for a rate of 3.58 deaths per 1,000 people. Canada, with a population of 38,500,000, has had 43,440 deaths, for a rate of 1.1 deaths per thousand. Republican Florida with anti-restrictions Governor Ron De Santis has had more than 3.5 times the COVID deaths as Canada.

Sure lets support Smith and watch her create a next wave and kill off a lot more citizens who refused to get vaccinated, while she puts us seniors in financial ruin with the loss of our Old Age Security payments, Canada Pension Plan payments and our Public Health Care Benefits as lawyers warn she will. It doesn’t matter that she has the worse record of defeats in Alberta politics seniors are falling for the lies.

Southern Albertan

Already, the Covid numbers now in Alberta, are worse than last year. What isn’t being reported widely, is that last week there were over 800 folks in the hospital in Alberta with Covid with increased numbers in ICUs as well, along with 27 deaths from Covid over the week. Sadly, most of the numbers included the unvaccinated. Even mild symptoms can be spread to those who may have a severe reaction and can also cause disturbing side effects to anyone, particularly neurological complications. This virus is still here and can be severe. Studies on Covid are now indicating, for example, that “testing, ventilation, and masks virtually eliminate Covid transmission in University classes, and another study from Boston showing removing masks increases Covid transmission in schools.” Medical professionals are still wearing masks in hospital settings for good reason, because it is well known that masks deal effectively with airborne transmission.

Demographical information has long been withheld from the reporting of COVID casualties — yet factors of obesity, co-morbidities and declining health are understood to occur along with outright COVID. Remember too that not everyone testing positive for SARS-COV-2 is in hospital because of it. Most people survive coronavirus; the majority, whether vaccinated or not, aren’t even much affected by it. Only monkeypox makes a worse showing as a pandemic driver.

According to a new report by the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, the majority of COVID cases it’s recording are among the fully vaccinated. This should inspire a rethink about the state of the pandemic and the efficacy of this product.

For some reason (cough-narrative-cough), Facebook chose to suppress this story.

we need bubble-suits and now. will smith promise a bubble suit for each and every albertan, regardless of how they vote? how about notley?
and, the added bonus is bubble suits will be a lot less scary than are masks for the little ones, as elementary schools will look like a happy collection of bubbles floating around everywhere.
no matter what, though, it is extremely important that people continue to jet around internationally, so as to be sure no one misses out on the latest mutations of covid, or whatever else is getting whipped up in the news, like monkey pox.
as for the fla to can comparison, without yet looking at the covid death rates, one has to consider that fla has a higher concentration of elderly, far more tourists/visitors per capita, a health system that caters far better to the wealthiest.
not sure where the writer’s stats are pegged, but perhaps they refer to a more specific time, rather than the wider range and reality. the following chart shows canada to have a long term average covid death rate of 2.77% (see the stats right side of page) – according to john’s hopkins
https://ycharts.com/indicators/canada_coronavirus_death_rate
while the same site using the cdc as reference shows the florida death rate long term average to be only 2.02%.

nice, at neg 2…look at the links – i am not making this up: the stats are underscored by john’s hopkins and the cdc. canada’s average death rate deemed due to covid is at 2.77%, while florida’s is at 2.02%. maybe, folks, pull the masks from over your eyes.

We need to run with our tails between our legs yet again Alan! Even if the annual (normal) flue season kills just as many or more people than covid does. Lets get going with Fear-Factor the sequel, after all things have been ramping down! And we can’t have that can we Alan.

It isn’t hard to understand why so many of our fellow seniors have no respect for these fools, like Johnny57, buckwheat , or old school who refuse to believe the truth, yet have no problem believing every lie these reformers feed them. Before making such a stupid comment aimed at me if Johnny had bothered to do any research he might have come across the truth as we all know it. Maybe he should google this so he doesn’t have to look so stupid on the future
” Alberta has Recorded More Deaths in 10 Months Than Flu Deaths in 20 years”.
We think these boys should keep their stupid comments to themselves before they find themselves in trouble trying to defend them as lawyers are warning seniors in Edmonton. Stop believing these lies and helping these fake conservative spread them, what do you think? If there was anything I learned from my dealings with lawyers and having coffee with them over the years it’s that you had better be able to proof, without a doubt, that what you are saying is true or you better not say it. In other words where is Johnny’s proof? He would look really stupid in court wouldn’t he?

johnny57

Refuse to believe the truth FC? The real fools are the ones that believe everything the state sponsored media feeds them! Where’s your proof??? Put the link down and I will definitely take the time to read it if its from a credible source.

When I tell you to Google something all you need to do is type it in the Google spot on your computer
try typing in “Alberta has Recorded More Covid deaths in 10 Months Than Flu Deaths in 20 Years” and it’s there.

biff

the discussion is not about covid v flu deaths.

gs172

More people have died of Covid in the 1st 8 months of 2022 then all of 2021. If Ms. Smith has made up her mind before she has the data that concerns me. Not that I want another lockdown or restrictions but If its necessary I want our leaders free to act.

biff

could you link the source of that – and, to where does this apply?

Fedup Conservative

“Alberta Has Recorded More Covid Deaths in 10 Months Than Flu Deaths in 20 Years” Better google it. Lawyers warn that Smith will put many seniors in financial ruin with her separation plans and why wouldn’t she? Ottawa is not going to support Albertans if Albertans wont support them, why should they? If you want to lose our Old Age Security payments, Canada Pension Plan payments and your Public Health Care benefits she is the one for you. Don’t forget most of us have already received a lot more than we ever paid into these programs and it would give them a good excuse to cut us off. .

biff

i asked for a source that substantiates the statement by gs172. it has nothing to do with covid numbers v flu numbers…nothing. again i will ask, gs172 could you provide a source that substantiates your comment that 8 months into 2022 there were more covid deaths than the 12 months of 2021?

Fedup Conservative

Well maybe you should have tried Googling it so here it is
“Alberta hit by far more Covid deaths this year than in the same period in previous years”.
As doctors point out these are people who have refused to get vaccinated. My wife and I along with at least 12 of our friends and relatives, including an 11 year old grandson have all had it but it was really nothing because we have all been vaccinated. Have you?

biff

no. by now you are well aware i am opposed to animal torture – i do not use pharm, nor do i support their vile and cruel practices.

biff

how does a fair question get negged? do you people truly have no desire for truth – just want to find stuff that supports your belief preferences? i get negged for posting information that is backed by john’s hopkins and the cdc…but because it contrasts with what you choose to believe you choose not to accept it.

Fedup Conservative

I would have thought biff would have been smart enough to google it but apparently not. I doubt he wants to hear it. Being unvaccinated. A lot of us have had it but because we are vaccinated it was really nothing more than a bad cold.

biff

unvaccinated and it was not near as bad as flus or colds i have had. losing smell and taste for a while was odd. but then again, those vaxed have also lost smell and taste.

biff

apparently you do not read so well? see my comment with regard to the post in question by gs172. maybe too quick to jump straight to insults?

JimO

He only believes in the alternate facts.

biff

thanks – will have a look.

biff

so, had a look – i suggest a closer read. you stated more have died so far in 2022 than in all of 2021. in fact, the article notes that there have been more deaths this year as compared to the same period last year, not compared to all of 2021.

This women will do anything or say anything to get elected just like she has in the past. Not only did it get her fired as a School Board Trustee, she has lost three conservative elections. She has the worse record in Alberta.
