Online shopping looking more appealing now

For the last 15 years I have held job positions that required me to spend money. Not my money, however. What I noticed is the over-pricing of everything, parts and labour and the weird thing is the companies I worked for would just pay the bill and continue to do business with these crooks.

Why? Too much money floating around, I guess. I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t my money so who cares.

This story is about me, my money!

This winter I took on a project. I decided I would 100 per cent buy local. My budget was $25,000.

The bulk of the money went to one place.

I didn’t dicker anywhere on prices and paid full retail. A problem arose when I was sold a $600 part as new only to find out after hours of time trying to figure things out that it was used and tampered with. After a dozen trips back to this shop the owner – rather than try to please a customer – decided to fight.

Upon returning home I decided to go over all invoices of everything I bought local only to find that I paid in excess of $5,000 should I have bought online.

I’m not big on online shopping but I am now. Lesson learned – shop wisely.
