E-scooter and bike riders in the city need to follow the rules of the road and respect others

It’s great for people to have alternative transportation, especially if it’s green. However, I have yet to find anything appealing about these orange bikes and scooters strewn around the city like trash.

Today is the third time I have dove out of the way for a convoy of these scooters diven by inconsiderate people, while taking my multiple daily walks.

To make it worse I have been cussed at for daring to be on the sidewalk walking my dog as they force me to jump aside as they blow by at top speed.

Being 70 years old that becomes tougher as the days go by, hence the daily walk to keep some semblance of fitness.

If it’s not me then it may be my trusty 10 lb. companion that bites the dust or the parent with the stroller.

When riding a bicycle I was taught it was a vehicle and to learn the rules of the road as if I were a motorized vehicle. Where are the check and balances for these vehicles and where is the monitoring?

I don’t want to be the grumpy old guy as I would have loved these things when I was of an age to enjoy them but I’m not going to be pushed off my tax paid sidewalks.

Toss a chunk of 4X4 under their front wheel.

yuck, just when you seem to have degraded to the utmost bottom you find yet another way to plunge ever more.

Yes, one asstute fellow 🙂

Sadly, unless you have to register and insure the vehicle and require a valid operator license there are NO RULES!

i cannot count the millions of times i have had to shake my fist at these renegades, spittle popping and sparking from my mouth…why, i have even come close to losing my dentures. the incredible speeds at which they zip by have actually spun me around like a top. and, this is just the beginning. soon they will be grouping in too quiet gangs, likely to be clad in leather jackets like common hoodlums. oh, the atrocity! why they cannot be one to a giant truck or suv like the so very many is beyond my comprehension. at least they would be supporting all the massive mining and the oil and gas we need to make the planet turn. my biggest worry is what if some or most of these scooter gangsters discover these scooters to be a gateway vehicle to big trucks and suvs, and, worse, they turn away from common leather jackets and instead clad themselves in the suits worn by lying politicians and the sleaze that is high finance.

I know a ton of e-vehicle junkies who were attracted from “communities” outside of lethbridge who came here to overrun our sidewalks since they started this program.

Will somebody PLEASE think of the children!?!?!

Joking aside , this is becoming a problem . I had an encounter last week in our local park with an e-bike that must have been doing +25kph on the sidewalk. Ringing his bell so everybody would get out of hie way.

What a bunch of malarkey. I e bike regularly in the pathways that are designated for walking and cycling. My biggest concern are the numbskulls walking casual with some ear buds stuck in the side of their head totally oblivious to the world around them while listening to something blaring in their ears. If you come to a near stop and yell “on the left” they might hear you as they jump
out of the way totally startled that there is someone else in the world besides themselves. It’s a two way street on designated pathways, unplug your ears, wake up and pay attention to the world around you. As a side note you are the perfect mark for a mugging as you won’t hear them coming. The oblivious class.
