Letter writer didn’t support convoy’s long stay in Ottawa

By Lethbridge Herald on September 13, 2022.

Editor:

I made it very clear that I didn’t support the convoy staying in Ottawa for as long as they did, nor did I approve of the blockage of the Ambassador Bridge.

Most of those in the convoy, as well as those protesting at the Coutts border, were angry with the few who made threats or showed up with guns. Those leading the Coutts protest shut it down shortly after they found out.

A Conservative government may have brought in the Emergencies Act, but would not have intended that it be used for something the police could have handled peacefully – yet the Liberal caucus supported this.

COVID protocols for travellers within Canada, and for those entering or returning to Canada have been among the most repressive in the world.

Natural immunity (which is superior to a vaccine) is not taken into account, and COVID testing (which is carried out in ways that create high percentages of false positives) threatens travellers with lengthy quarantines, often at great expense.

The ICU beds have needed more capacity for years now, and destroying our economy hasn’t helped address that. There were drugs that arrested the progression of COVID, but these were demonized, not allowed, any and all reports challenging the desired narrative were called “misinformation.” The doctors, immunologists, scientists etc. who tried to protest the loss of low-cost, efficacious treatments for COVID, lost their jobs and were discredited.

Where is their free speech?

I have read and researched this at length and would like to see all of the data published and debated – not just the data supporting one side. Name-calling and portraying those who want to see freedoms restored, is divisive and not helpful.

Guess you are not happy with articles from legitimate documented MSM sources. Many of them from CBC. I am sorry for you, and wonder whose intelligence is in question. You can’t have the story both ways.

Unless you want the ongoing hypocrisy to continue. I will not continue to respond to insults if that’s all you have. Seems straight out of the PM playbook.

JimO

You posted crap from the so called Canadian Constitution Foundation which is right wing BS

Andrew Blair

I don’t know anything about the Canadian Constitution Foundation, but when I look on their website they say their mission is to defend the constitutional freedoms of Canadians. That sounds like a good thing to me. Can you explain to me what you think is right wing about them?

JimO

You must be a fan of Trump. He pushed/loved the dewormer ivermectin as well as North Koreaan dictators. Dispited the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea having the word Democratic in its title hardly makes it “Democratic” just like the Canadian Constitution Federation makes it a As you say “ a good thing”. One just have to read up about the dewormer and the CCF to realize both are crackpot ideas and ideals.

Andrew Blair

What makes you think I’m a fan of Trump? I’m not. Is support for constitutional freedoms somehow an indicator of being a Trump fan or what?

So what is it that you have read about ivermectin? Are you familiar with the critiques of this study: https://journals.lww.com/americantherapeutics/Fulltext/2021/08000/Ivermectin_for_Prevention_and_Treatment_of.7.aspx?

JimO

Any of your youtube post of MSM showing the conservative members who backed the so called “Freedom” morons also shows the failings of the Conservatives. Not a fan of Trudeau but the conservatives who supported these fringe groups showed their stupidity as well. Flood postings of their rants in Ottawa and flood posts of the CCF nuts hardly makes your point.

Ya keep flooding the blog

Ah the BS is thick here. Herd immunity concept and use of other drugs to stop the virus all from the anti vax playbook. As a well respected virologist I know said it would have to be at the least 10% of the population to even hope to achieve herd immumity as opposed to the 2% that were infected. Therefore the situation in the hospital ICUs would be far worse than it was and the number of deaths far greater. Guess the horse medicine was also a better solution as well.

Andrew Blair

As far as I can tell there is no anti vax playbook. I’ve been following a lot of the counterarguments to the “safe and effective” narrative, and there is no standard line that would constitute a “playbook”. In fact they have some very strong disagreements amongst themselves about a variety of matters. Could you be more specific? And try to back up your assertions with evidence instead of smears. For example, why do you call ivermectin “horse medicine” when it has been used as a human medication for decades, as well as for animals?

Seriously? You have worms?

Andrew Blair

No I do not have worms. But many millions of people do face the problem of river blindness caused by a parasitic worm. Ivermectin has proven to be a very effective treatment for this, and is one of the safest medications for human use on record. Of course it does not follow from the fact that it is safe that it is effective against Covid-19. But the claims that it was unsafe were lies. It wouldn’t do to have people believing that there might be an alternative to unsafe mRNA vaccinations now would it?

JimO

Lol right… if it were it would be the greatest med for covid.. more BS

Yes, in that Mayo clinic site ivermectin is listed under Drugs being studied that have uncertain effectiveness.

  • It says: “Ivermectin. The drug ivermectin, used to treat or prevent parasites in animals and in humans, isn’t a drug used to treat viruses. The FDA hasn’t approved use of this drug to treat or prevent COVID-19. Taking large doses of this drug can cause serious harm. Don’t use medications intended for animals on yourself to treat or prevent COVID-19.”

All of that is true, but it doesn’t disagree with anything I’ve said, and it is a very shallow account of the full story.

Andrew Blair

You might find this interesting – a doctor in Toronto making an appeal to be permitted to prescribe ivermectin for his patients: https://rumble.com/v1iz0wj-dr-shoemaker-ivermectin-now-in-every-pharmacy-in-new-hampshire-why-not-ever.html.

Could you be more specific? Which of Jill’s claims are an example of misinformation?
