Dear Shaun Ward,
I am not sure if the “correct thinkers” you mention are more likely people that realize that we have a climate issue.
All the weather extremes are not happening coincidentally. The extreme heat repeating every year, the fires every year, the high amount of strong storms in the U.S., droughts in many areas and, not even mentioning the disappearing glaciers and melting ice caps in the Arctic.
You will always find some group of people, scientists or not, that will find proof that this is all nonsense. And that the net zero policies will bankrupt countries. Well, if you don’t do something now then this might be the smallest issue.
I agree with the thought that we need some room for debate, but more in like we have to listen to all sides. But we cannot deny an extreme change in weather behaviour, which is based on us humans.
We have polluted since the Industrial Age, and now it’s time we pay the price. I am lucky to live in a country that can do a lot to reduce pollution. And I don’t think we should tell others this or this is the only way, like you said in your letter “I’m right – you do what you are told,“ but if we don’t change things in a big scale we might not have a lot left to give to our kids.
