UCP’s advertising campaign spreading fear among Albertans

By Lethbridge Herald on November 1, 2023.

Editor:

I am writing today in the interests of accountability to Albertans. If you can provide some answers, I would be most appreciative. Regarding the $8 million “advertising campaign,” is there no newspaper editor or manager in Alberta who can refuse to have each Friday’s cover page blacked out by the UCP government? The campaign is running in Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.

Like most Canadians, I am doing my best to understand the intricate problems we are facing with net zero carbon emissions and going electric. The Alberta target of 2050 versus the federal target of 2035 is now a big political argument.

We are confronted by emotional television ads that spread fear causing people to form opinions without looking for the facts. Will the individual writing these ads ever be held accountable?

According to CBC News Calgary’s Joel Dryden, the federal Environmental Minister Steven Guilbeault is in discussion with the Alberta Electrical Systems Operator about the “affordability and reliability” of electricity in Alberta.

Albertans can be assured that when federal legislation in not in the best interests of the provinces, the Supreme Court of Canada will do their job and state what is wrong.

This is the case for Bill C-69. I am reminded of the wonderful Supreme Court Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin who grew up in Pincher Creek.

Finally, any government is only as beneficial and efficient as the people who are running it. I cannot agree with this communication approach.

buckwheat

You want the press to provide censorship? They all ready do. Have you seen any articles that suggest that the APP even be considered an alternate? Nope. What you have is a bunch of children screaming liar and spending tons of money drumming up anti UCP rhetoric. For those informed, your letter is moot and preaches to the choir, all 30,000 of them. The Lethbridge Herald, arbiter of censorship? Free press? haha a real rib tickler. MSM is already there.

Fedup Conservative

Gee buckwheat did you notice once again that no one agrees with you. Could it possibly be that you are once again dead wrong and people are fed up with your useless comments?
