Nikki Van Eden’s efforts a credit to the newspaper

By Lethbridge Herald on July 17, 2024.

Editor:

I am sending you this unsolicited letter to express my deepest appreciation for a staff member, Nikki Van Eden.

I am a lifetime Lethbridge resident and a long-time Lethbridge Herald subscriber.

My involvement with the Lethbridge Herald has primarily been with the sports department.

Over the years, the Herald has followed and reported on the racquetball sporting success of my son, Coby Iwaasa. There have been numerous feature stories and news articles covering his successes locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. The write-ups have been respectful, accurate and well written.

While Coby was attending university and competing for Team Canada, there were some lean years.

It was difficult for Coby to find a job that would fit his schedule and help pay for his education and training.

Fortunately there was an advertisement by the Herald looking for paper delivery people and he applied and got his first experience working for the Herald.

During the past few months, I have had additional interactions with the advertisement department regarding Memoriam postings and special occasion postings.

As I have not done this before, Nikki Van Eden was so supportive and accommodating that it put my mind at ease. She helped me with suggestions of what to post, how it should look and the proofs before it went to print.

Nikki was outstanding in her communications and very patient with me.

I strongly believe that you give recognition where recognition is due and she deserves it.

Thank you to the Lethbridge Herald for hiring genuine people like Nikki Van Eden. She is a tribute to your organization.

Milton Iwaasa

An excellent inquiry. The Alberta government should have consulted the public thoroughly, backed by facts and expert opinion, before deciding to allow hunters to kill a threatened species or to seek out alternative, more appropriate options.
