Harris won’t have the support of Democrats in the election

By Lethbridge Herald on August 16, 2024.

Editor:

Joe Biden, the incumbent President, won the majority of party delegates last March to receive the Democrat nomination for this fall’s election. There was an actual democratic process involved; “uncommitted” took second place. No such process has yet vetted Kamala Harris.

Biden was unceremoniously dumped after his disastrous debate June 27, and Harris was selected  by party insiders  to replace him without a single primary vote. That’s one strike against the Democrats: they’re choosing political expediency over following their own rules.

It left “She Knows Best” on Tiktok sadly remarking, “The Democratic elites put Kamala Harris as the presidential nominee without any of us voting for her. ..They literally took your voting rights away, and you’re jumping up and down about it: ‘Girl Power! Black woman in office!’ Seriously?”

There’s another: Joe Biden’s campaign raised $91.5 million in donations. By law, that money must be returned to all its donors.

A person supporting Biden won’t necessarily support Harris, and the donors wishes must be respected. Are they about to be? No. The Kamala Harris campaign is getting it as a lump sum.

If the law is treated so lightly here, remember that President Trump was sent to trial for $310,000, a blatantly fractional amount, on a charge filed years past its statute of limitations.

But the Democrats won’t punish themselves, in a connected New York courtroom or anywhere else, for cutting corners.

“The prosecutor versus The felon?” It was Alexander Soros who urged Democrats to label Trump a “convicted felon,” even though the conviction’s sure to be thrown out on appeal. Here in Canada, the correct term is “convicted offender.” An example is Steven Guilbeault.

For the moment, Kamala Harris is the shiny new object, hollow CV,  stale running mate, border failures and all.

Rumour has it that once she’s nominated, there’ll be a move against her and she’ll be replaced before the election. Yet again, the Democrat elites cut corners from the democratic process.

excellent Tom, well written. Note that the Democrats are no longer screeching about Trump being a “threat to democracy”. They took democracy and flushed it in the face of their primary voters and took their money to boot.

Once again no one supports you but you aren’t smart enough to understand that you might be the problem. Thanks for the laugh.

Signed up for a MAGA hat yet? “Unceremoniously dumped” – Utter none sense. After what was indeed a “disastrous” debate , Biden undertook what most in his party wanted and announced his decision to step down. It is what most would call the right thing to do, political or otherwise. Harris received well over the threshold of 1976 delegate votes to be nominated. Yes , it was a virtual call , but necessary because of Ohio state rules. The money does not have to be returned as she is the VP and not a “new” name on the voter list.
You really think democracy would flourish with Trump? He who called for “fight”, relished in the attacks on Congress and insulted VP Pence for doing his job and refusing to accept Trump’s illegal dictates.
Every other word spoken by Trump is either a lie or a gross exaggeration. Even hard core Republicans are wary of Trump and his cronies.
He is already sowing the seeds of discord in the event he loses , acting once again as a tin-pot dictator, the consequences of which are dire .

So what? CBC, The Guardian and other “ worthy” news sources claim both Trump and Harris campaigns have been hacked by Iran . Greenfield is a known conservative “journalist” with little credibility outside those following FOX, Newsmax et al. Guess you follow Greenfield and believe hook line and sinker…

Well said. I think Trump is running scared and all the Republicans also. When all you have is sarcastic comments to hurl at her you are in trouble. My American Relatives like us were proud conservatives at one time and now want to see them defeated. Like in Alberta we see nothing conservative with these Reformers.

Thanks for the good belly laugh this morning. It is just mind-numbing that anyone who supports the Orange Moron can nitpick about what the Democrats have done.

The Repugnicants nominated a convicted rapist, racist, thieving, lying, mentally unstable candidate. He attempted a coup for god’s sake. He should be rotting in prison, no running fro re-election but the Supreme court is a large part of what I say is an ongoing coup.

Donald Trump is singularly the worst President and the worst Presidential candidate ever and history will show this to be true. How they have hood-winked you and millions of other poorly educated fools into their cult is something I will never understand.

Kamala Harris has turned most of the polls around to clearly show the win that is forthcoming for the Democrats yet you think they are going to replace her. WTF are you smoking?!? That statement is the dumbest thing I have read all year and shows me your knowledge of and grasp on reality is non-existent. How anyone can even remotely believe such utter nonsense is baffling.

She has reinvigorated the voting public to care about this election and will trounce Trump by a much wider margin than most people believe.

Regarding the contributions to the Biden/Harris ticket that went to the Harris campaign war chest, does anyone know what law was violated?

In her case as VP, and her nomination before the DNC, there were no laws broken. (A new name on the nominee ballot, if accepted, would not have been so clear cut,)
Yeoman’s statement regarding the funding transfer to the VP / really is “Fake News”.

Thanks for your comment. I actually knew the answer, but was interested to see if anyone was ill-informed enough to take a swing at it in the affirmative.

All I need to hear from Tom Yeoman is ‘rumor has it’ and I’m done.

Here’s
Another rumour.

Kamala Harris’ San Francisco is a dystopian nightmare. Is this what she has planned for America?

You can’t evoke a quality without a comparison, buckster. You know that!

Dystopian compared to what? Notch, Missouri?

Skill testing question: what is Notch famous for?

buckwheat

How about can the messenger act and say something intelligent.

SophieR

You pick up right-wing memes like a belly button picks up lint, my friend.

harris is another joke, another caricature in a sphere where idiot, selfish, narcissists are firmly the norm. one of those fools gets elected because they are reviled less than the other by the masses.
great democracy, indeed, where seemingly intelligent people are ok to vote for the least worst of the puppets put before them, rather than to demand a leader determined to right the ship.
people want change, but the only change they keep getting with this charade is that freedoms get chafed more and more, and those truly in power…not the puppets people vote for…keep shoring up more and more of the wealth, and power.
