Alberta condo owners have been shorted by the province

By Lethbridge Herald on August 31, 2024.

Editor:

The fact that Minister Neudorf has any comments on using the words affordability and electricity in the same paragraph is absolutely laughable.

Remember the electricity rebate package from last year that saw most home owners received a total of $500 in monthly rebates on the costs of their electricity as a credit on their bill?

There are still thousands of condominium owners, mainly seniors living in apartment building style condos out there who did not get this.

I have to tell you, that after leading the file on this issue for more than two years with the Condo Owners Forum, culminating with bringing a petition to the Legislature on the last day of the session before the current government came storming back into power, and with the fact that thousands of condo owners out there that have been shorted by successive UCP governments, that I am still a little more than upset is an understatement.

I’m looking forward to working to support Rob Miyashiro in his bid for the NDP nomination for Letbridge West. In the riding there are thousands of condo owners who have had to put up with UCP lies on this topic for the past two years, and I hope that if successfully winning the nomination and the subsequent by-election, that Mr Miyashiro, will continue to fight for seniors and condominium owners rights.

At the end of the day, maybe all condo owners have left to them is considering a class action lawsuit to force the issue.

Another day another rant, woe is me I’m NDP. IN thousands of case electricity and some utilities are paid within condo fees. Happy to see you promoting the NDP, maybe you can help create another 20 thousand government jobs to determine who gets their 50.00 rebate on their portion of the condo fee electricity. Hec 20,000 may not do it.

Once again u make a statement with little or no data to support it. We were condo owners in Lethbridge and our condo fees did not cover any utility costs. In fact when we were looking at buying a condo none of the three or four condo associations included utilities in their fees. Utility costs are based on usage so including one cost for all owners in ur condo fee would be a highly unfair to owners who minimize their usage vs those that run their ac or furnace full time. Supporting the NDP and in particular Mr. Miyashiro? Seriously, Mirashiro failed in his bid for Lethbridge East, he should hang up his skates and call it a day! His “cushion” role at LSCO is a good holding pen for this undeclared candidate hopeful. One does not have to look back too far to see how Mr. Miyashiro performs in the political arena, as Council member he is noted for being an absolute and constant bully with no regard for his fellow Council members and the record clearly shows this! Even bleeding heart NDP west side constituents should “consider the source” before even remotely thinking of voting for Miyashiro as a viable candidate.

Rob Miyashiro will be able to get your condo electrical rebate? Funny how you don’t mention Phillips at all, as if she never existed? She was also a Senior NDPer and a Minister, yet she couldn’t get it done for you? Suddenly you find love with the Rookie Riding Jumper Rob Miyashiro lol good luck with that!
