Re: Al Beeber’s column.
Your column, in which you stated that some people “refuse” to wear a poppy, may have some truth but how dare you to paint all the rest of us non-poppy wearers with the same brush!
You have no idea. Wearing a poppy for three or four days may make you all warm and fuzzy, and feel like you are supporting our veterans and currently serving forces. What a shallow feeling that must be.
I do not wear a poppy for these few days, just to show everybody how good of a Canadian I am but I do wear one of my fathers medals from his World War Two service, around my neck 365 days a year, in honour of his service, as well as his, and many, many, many others who have sacrificed!
Instead of three or four days a year, I am reminded of his , as well as the untold thousands of other men and women who have served, died, been wounded, maimed, as well as those that are still serving. Every single day!
