Editor,
Even though I don’t like the orange-faced, weird hair, felon that is in charge of the United States, with his stupid concepts, and a total lack of education and common sense, I do have to give him some kudos.
He has spurred Canada into becoming a more united country, more than we have been, for many years. “Buy Canadian!” is what is constantly pounded into our heads daily, even by Canadian celebrities.
Well, living in Alberta, there are a lot of products that are available locally, but an offsetting number of things that are not available here, making us out-source our needs.
So, what do we do? We purchase out-of-country products that we enjoy, when we would like them…..all is good, right ?
So, the local vendor has some of the products we want that are Canadian produced, but you never know, as labelling can be quite deceptive.
So, as a loyal Canadian, I go into their place of business, make my purchase, and, as I was raised to be respectful, I say, “thank you “
What do I get in reply? Maybe a “yep.” Probably “ have a good one” Iif they can put down their phone for 15 seconds.
Pay attention when you go into the United States next time. Even if you just buy a pack of gum, you always get a “thank you.”
Owners and managers have to properly train their staff, at least here in Lethbridge, to appreciate the customers that purchase their products, and by the way, pay their wages.
Buy Canadian? Sure. Give me a “thank you,” please

To summarize, someone wished you a good one, rather than saying “thank you”, and that made you so upset that you wrote a letter making sweeping generalities about not just an entire city, but also an entire country?
