I enjoy watching the Liberals scurry around pretending they are making headway on trade and insisting all the while that it’s a deal for Canada or no deal. Meanwhile the real negotiator/dictator isn’t even in the room? So we flail away pretending to make headway when we have already been told exactly what is about to happen to us.
That is, we will be the 51st state unless someone puts some big boy pants on and realizes that the negotiations are a farce and all you are doing is making yourself publicly subservient to the real message.
There will not be, any real negotiations, period! We will be the source of all Fentanyl and aliens, we will be whatever Trumps imagination wants us to be. We can spend $1.2 billion flying around attack helicopters and dancing to his tune, but in the end, he will just change the tune.So why not get on with the job of protecting Canada?
Trump has already told us he wants us to be the 51st state and intends on economically killing us to achieve that end. That should be the shutdown of any negotiations, period! So at what point do Liberals finally realize that Trudeau planted the seed of 51st state and Trump’s obsession with his own ”Kingness” is going to propel us in that direction.
Any deal he signs is not worth the paper that its written on, so start living and thriving/surviving knowing full well that the U.S. has become a hostile place for Canadian goods, the faster you realize that and start telling Canadians the real truth on how bad this is, the better we will be in the future. Carney and his Liberals have over promised support for Canadians losing their job to a point of future Canadian bankruptcy.
What’s the plan to save us? There is no plan, all there is, is more and more announcements of bail-outs if things go south. At what point do we strap on the big boy pants and say enough is enough! We have long passed that point and Trump is loving it!

“Trudeau planted the seed of 51st state” Really? How and when was that?
I think we’ll be fine, as trump seems to be imploding himself, it’s only a matter of time…even his base is turning on him.
Dennis, do you care to offer up your’ big boy pants’ plan?
Or is it again blah blah liberals bad?
Yep Trumps popularity is at 72% favourable. Gonna be a while lumpy. It is the Democrats who are imploding at 19% approval rating. Change the channel.
There’s not a political leader on the planet with that level of popularity. Trump isn’t even that popular in his own family.
Today’s polls Trump popularity 40% and dropping (https://news.gallup.com/poll/203198/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx)
Democrat approval 40%, GOP 48%. (https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5400339-democrats-low-approval-ratings-poll/)
Why do you troll like this, Bucky? It’s not healthy.
Trump has a 77% approval of his base which makes lumpys statement idiotic. As for you keep your sanctimony to yourself.
Why then do Americans tell us his popularity has dropped to 40 % and never was 77%? Being stupid is your only qualification, isn’t it?
Ooooh. Of His Baaaase …
Now, tell me, how would His Base be polled? Who, really, is his base? The very rich seem to tolerate him. Racist groups like Proud Boys adore him. White men without a high school diploma predominantly voted for him. Fascists obey him. Fox News viewers are mesmerized by him. Or are we just talking Republicans in general?
And if it is His Base, what are we saying? His base, one would think, would be 100% in support. Is he losing even those supporters (to have crashed to your quoted 77%)? What could Trump possibly have done to lose these voters, as they voted for him despite being a felon, despite being a misogynist and racist, despite being a liar, despite knowing nothing about governance or economics? What is there left that 23% of His Base turned away from him? Did he burn Atlas Shrugged at a rally? Did he make fun of Hitler’s mustachio? Did he mock hypoallergenic dogs?
I need to know, Bucky!
he is an admitted sexual criminal, having boasted that he has grabbed women over the years, saying they love it. ironically, that utterance may be among the few honest things he says.
however, the lies, and the insults and threats, are piling up again as he tries to stave off the epstein files and his association with that piece of work…can billy bob clinton get his due before he kicks off? so many others…maybe the maga crowd will prove useful on at least one instance of long overdue justice.
Fact Check: Latest Economist polling suggests 51% of Americans “Disapprove” , 41% “Approve”. So where are your facts emerging from?
These Reformers are so stupid they can’t think for themselves and sound like parrots repeating every lie they are fed, we know Trudeau never once talked about us being the 51st state that’s how stupid he is, isn’t he?
Oh please. Take a pill. There is not one leader anywhere in the world who can argue with the illogical, lying, mysoginistic , dictatorial demigod.
Easy to blame Carney and the Liberals. Exactly what would you have done or would do DB?
Stand around fall over and play dead? Make nice with this psychopath ? Cozy up to his MAGA acolytes?
Carney is trying and trying hard to, at the same time dealing with provincial unrest In Quebec and Alberta whilst attempting to unite the country, breaking down provincial barriers, appeasing indigenous groups, increasing defence and making overseas trade deals.
I am sick to death of the name calling anti liberal vitriol without making any useful suggestions. (But then again , that is the MO of MP Thomas , Poilievre. etc)
Perhaps you are one who licks their lips at the thought of becoming one with the states?
Carney did campaign with a big mouth and big promises of standing up to and dealing with Trump. That is what got him elected. He knew the right things to say. Now he is not doing much positive “dealing” with Trump.Asking Dennis to offer up a solution is silly. Dennis never promised or pretended to be able to deal with Trump if elected. That being said , I believe he would do a better job than Carney. This countries government needs to practice some spending restraint.
He certainly did he is a lot more intelligent than this moron Poilievre who has no solution to any problem just blames it on someone else and Trudeau was the guy, that’s how stupid he is.
We don’t need government restraints on our spending when we are below what other provinces are spending we need a government that is collecting proper Oil Royalties and Corporate Taxes like Lougheed was doing and not these Reform Party clowns helping the rich steal our money like they are doing, so why is that so hard for you fools to understand?
Being treated like morons is what you prefer isn’t it?
)
The latest rambling nonsensical monologue. You believe “he”(Poilievre or DB??) would “do a better job” . Exactly how?
He (Carney) , has already spoken of darker days and sacrifices and kept put his cool in the face of an adversarial despot. DB quoted out of date statistics , purporting to confirm Trump’s popularity. He is currently polling 51% DISAPPROVAL (Economist)!
Carney bends over when Trump lifts an eye-brow. Carney helped guide the turdo liberals into the financial mess Canada is in now. Carney keeps his cool? Doing nothing good for Canada ,but he sure is cool.
The conservatives in my world were not fans of Trudeau but knew he was a lot better than these Reformers and now we have a guy who is a lot more like our conservative hero Peter Lougheed and a lot smarter than any Reformer will ever be. We are pleased that It looks like Poilievre will lose in Alberta also with 50 candidates now registered and counting to run against him this guy is such a jerk, there is certainly nothing conservative about him.
Dennis as another one of these proud Reformers hellbent on bad mouthing Liberals why Americans know Trumps popularity is failing like they knew it would.
Would you rather have that clown Pierre Poilievre as prime minister helping his pal Danielle Smith privatize our Public Healthcare System like he tried to help Stephen Harper do? The true conservatives in my world aren’t that stupid, so why are you?
Ignoring the fact that Poilievre was constantly repeating his pal Trump in his speeches doesn’t make you look very smart does it?
a couple of points dennis makes seem valid, even though we may not be ready to acknowledge them.
first, trump’s goal is far more to force canada to be as american as he can make it; if not an actual state, then perhaps something along the lines of a puerto rico. he is able to take such a path because our long list of followers, both political and industry “leaders” and of each party leaning, have been nothing but lame-ass followers looking for the easiest ways to fill their pockets. our history at its rawest: when we finally crawled out of the womb of britain we immediately began sucking off the teat of the usa. we gave up most everything in terms of de facto independence so as to please the usa. today, that vulnerability is rather obvious.
second, it is nonsense to believe one can deal with trump. he is a liar and a cheat and entirely undependable (hmm, the same character as was britain during the days of its colonial empire, as they consistently made deals and promises that they reneged and back stabbed on). it is futile to deal with such a scum.
therefore, we will need to take a hit in terms of our wealth while we do the necessary thing and create trade relations with as much of the rest of the world as we can. we need to find our own way, finally, and move out of the usa’s basement. toward that end, we need to tell trump to shut up, or, if we wish to be polite, we let him know we will get back to him….
that noted, you can bet i do not hold out much hope that those most controlling our decisions – as, in big money and owned politicians – are willing to go that route. they are about their money and their power and egos and self service and their stuff, and they will trade away whatever it takes to lose neither a notch nor a penny.
I don’t think you can be much dumber than Dennis Bremner he has proven it time and time again. The conservatives in my world see Carney as another Lougheed, a very intelligent man who won’t take any crap from Trump or anyone else.
Poilievre on the other hand is a jerk who shows no intelligence at all treating the people in Ottawa like morons while praising the Convoy Truckers and buying them coffee and donuts and not caring that the ran up a $65 million debt for taxpayers to pay, proving there is nothing conservative about him. Like Smith blaming others and destroying jobs is all he knows.
carney, while a better choice than poilievre, has already demonstrated he is slippery with regard to transparency and truthfulness. he is a money man and well connected to money people and well versed in how to default to sleazy “legislation” that serves tax evasion rather than what is just and right.
he may, however, do well for canada as a whole; time will tell. i have much, much less confidence that the likes of a poilievre is near as able to serve canadians.
Well have you ever seen an intelligent businessman who doesn’t like money, this banker never did? Lougheed was worth a fortune but that didn’t make him sleazy and we doubt Carney will be either.
He is already showing us how he can make us a lot better off and that’s not a problem, these Reformers never did it, they were too busy helping the rich steal our wealth and still are, while they destroyed jobs and investments like Smith and Green Energy.
it is one thing to like money, but quite another to seek it out in crooked or otherwise shady ways. being “intelligent” hardly justifies sleaze.
as for lougheed, he was very good relative to the economic-political in-crowd type. we can agree he was the best premier alberta has had. however, his time in office was not entirely clean. as for carney, these are early days, and he already has demonstrated he is not beyond reproach.
