Re: School library book ban an effective distraction, August 6, 2025.
Trevor W. Harrison, a retired political sociologist at the University of Lethbridge, has a problem with Alberta schools protecting children from viewing explicit sexual material, i.e. pornography.
Why?
It is self evident why this would be a good thing, but obviously it is not self evident for Harrison. In this case, then, he should do some research on the harmful effects of sexually explicit material on children and young people. There is a growing amount of research showing the harm to brain development, and the dangerous consequences to the relationships and the lives of these children and young people.
It goes without saying that making available to children and young people sexually explicit material is sexual exploitation. It is an incredible abuse of power.

Well, Remus will be glad to know that her “go-to” reference will not be banned, despite its often violent material and a definitely jealous divine entity. She (Remus) is obviously not aware that individual books that are banned are almost exclusively oriented toward the 2SLGBTQ community . Then again, she could just as well know that fact and quietly applaud that as well.
Watching these Reformers constantly attacking different sections of the population to try to hide the financial mess they are creating doesn’t make their supporters look very smart does it?
Once again we see people in the Camrose, Battle River riding proving how stupid they are.
Mostly seniors bragging about voting Conservative for Poilievre too stupid to realize that there is nothing conservative about him, or caring about what his Convoy Trucker friends cost Canadians, that’s how stupid they are, aren’t they? Friends and relatives living in the area are disgusted by their stupidity we are told.
Once again it’s seniors allowing themselves to be treated like morons, just like con- artists are famous for doing.
What is so disturbing is the fact that many of the Alberta Newspapers are refusing to print anything bad being sad against them protecting their stupidity.
Ignoring the fact that most students have cell phones and can access all the pornography they want doesn’t make these ignorant seniors look very smart does it?
The real abuse of power is the religious zealots and politicians telling the rest of us what is ok to read and what is not. No where do they suggest the Bible has sexually explicit material and should be banned.
I think the harm to brain development for Remus is the existence of books that are contrary to her political and religious beliefs.
Or maybe just the existence of books …
