Editor,
Invocation of the Notwithstanding Clause of the Charter is a five-year, time-limited endeavour, so that voters can decide at election time whether the invocation was reasonable in the circumstances. Voters, please remember this when it is time to vote in the next Alberta election.
If it is not bad enough that the Premier makes such a cavalier invocation of the Notwithstanding Clause, worse, she is not even in the Legislature when her unconstitutional legislation is passed at third reading.
No, instead, she is off to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to promote, in part, Alberta energy. A bit like “taking coal to Newcastle.”

“taking coal to Newcastle” is spot on. This government now blatantly displays its contempt for democracy and the rule of law.
People: when will enough be enough?

The UCP are the worst provincial government in Alberta’s history and Danielle Smith is the worst premier Alberta ever had.
So reading in everyone has a right to bike lanes is just fine, got it. Make it up as you go along.
