Neudorf ‘s lack of engagement with constituents is unacceptable

By Lethbridge Herald on December 6, 2025.

Editor,

I am writing to express my strong concern regarding the recent recall efforts targeting five UPC caucus members, which I believe are entirely justifiable. My own experience with our MLA, Nathan Neudorf, mirrors the frustrations voiced by the petitioners. I recently contacted Mr. Neudorf’s office regarding an important community issue and, disappointingly, received no response from him or his staff. It is imperative that our elected representatives, especially those who were voted into office, make themselves available and responsive to their constituents. In stark contrast, I have consistently received prompt and courteous responses from our MP, Rachael Thomas, and her staff, whenever I have raised concerns. Similarly, local Councillor Dodic and Mayor Hyggen have always been responsive to my messages, regardless of their perceived triviality.

This lack of engagement from Mr. Neudorf raises questions about how many other constituents are being similarly overlooked.

A fundamental responsibility of an MLA is to serve and communicate with the people they represent, and I believe there is a significant shortfall in this area.

This MAGA supporter has done nothing for Lethbridge and its citizens. He rubber stamps all of Smith’s irrational and selfish policies while collecting taxpayer money. Yes, he deserves to be gone.

Fedup Conservative

They all do. They are nothing more than a branch of the American Republican Party and want us to be just like them.

Fedup Conservative

Stan your comments are what everyone is saying about these fake conservatives, Reformers, trying to pretend they are conservatives and it’s our own damn fault for allowing them to be elected. Once elected they don’t care about anyone else other than their Reform Party pal and their rich friends.
Those of us who tried to teach our senior friends about how dangerous they were got called all sort of names by these fools who wouldn’t listen.

Hey FEd up. Notice you have left your buddy Lougheed out of this. Funny he was your hero until the use of his demanded NWC. Exposed!!!!!

Please read this and get back to us. I think you’ll find that Lougheed’s view on the NWC is rather different than the UCPs. The part written by Lougheed starts on page 11.

Still got your head in your ass and proud of it, good for you.

You know it. We both are aware of Peter Lougheed and how good he was for Alberta. Even his own cabinet ministers do not trust the UCP and Danielle Smith. They are correct.

When I ask fools like buckwheat who they voted for when they obviously didn’t like Lougheed they can’t tell you, that’s how stupid they are and are only interested in proving how stupid they are. You can bet they voted for him.

Dwayne.W

I can see that. You are correct.

Maybe keep MLA, and prescribe pill for all the fedups- cheaper.

Fedup Conservative

Are you proud of paying the highest power bills in Canada, the highest property taxes, the highest vehicle registration fees, the highest vehicle insurance premiums, the highest long term health care premiums, highest fees for new drivers and the highest liquor prices. Of course you don’t care that we have a soon to be $500 billion oil well clean up mess for our children’s future, a $89 billion debt and a growing $20billion deficit, that’s how stupid you are, right?
Bet you are another one of those mindless seniors people are talking about, right?

Dwayne.W

There are people who wouldn’t know what an actual Conservative is, even if it was standing in front of them. Too brainwashed by the lies these Reformer types keep feeding them.

Fedup Conservative

They are so proud of being stupid its truly disgusting, isn’t it?

buckwheat

Not so stupid that we notice that you have stopped pounding the Lougheed drum. lol.

Dwayne.W

You should quit while you are ahead.

Fedup Conservative

He has never been ahead. No one is dumb enough to support him other than a few other idiots.

Fedup Conservative

So who did you support when Lougheed was our premier and so highly respected? Even Social Credit MLas told me that it was impossible to be in opposition to him when they agreed with everything he did, and that’s why the Social Credit Party died out so quickly. That only leaves you with the Liberals doesn’t it? The guys you Reformers seem to hate with a passion so let’s hear your pathetic excuses?

Say What . . .

I have no problem getting a response from the MLA East’s office and have had to deal with them for many years because the NDP West Lethbridge office would not hear or respond to my concerns.
In fact, Shannon Phillip’s constituency office was closed to the public for over a year I am aware of at the end of her job as MLA and the Honourable Nathan Neudorf’s office received large brown envelopes full of Shannon’s constituent’s concerns from Shannon’s office, for Nathan’s office to deal with.
Nathan was bringing the concerns of both Lethbridge East and West to the legislature, all while Shannon continued to get paid her fat salary as an MLA, and still be seen on the news attacking the UCP or our city police, which she sued and is probably living well now on the proceeds of that lawsuit, which was paid by the taxpayer and/or insurance.
So please don’t tell me about how bad the big bad UCP are! Look in the mirror! And perhaps treat the people who work in his office respectfully and be patient! I have been abravise but respectful and I am not ignored.
I often never got responses for months, other than the auto generated response my email was received, because they were working on my concerns, and waited until they had something they could report.’
I have also had to wait for MP’s to respond and and in some cases almost 6 months, but they had some answers in the respond.
You state “A fundamental responsibility of an MLA is to serve and communicate with the people they represent, and I believe there is a significant shortfall in this area.”
You are right, and the worst offender has been the NDP and many of my fellow business owners in the downtown would concur! We were ignored with our pleas while we watched our businesses devastated because of the NDP pushing a Supervised Drug Consumption Site on us that we didn’t want and one of the biggest and loudest supporters was the now NDP MLA West Rob Miyashiro who now can eat crow, from all of the attacks on fellow Councilors who brought our concerns to Council.
The UCP have proven the that the consumption sites and harm reduction are a complete failure and their treatment-recovery programs work and cut the fatal overdoses dramatically in Lethbridge and over half across the province.
Those are lives and families devastated! The MLA West Rob Miyashiro would not listen to us!
I suppose you support the Alberta taxpayer having to pay $1.1 million per recall which now is about $20 million and then what the byelections will cost.
It is almost an insurrection, by the NDP collaborating with unions and special interest groups to bring down a democratically elected government.
Again I reflect:
Socialist factions, particularly those advocating for revolutionary change, have historically used a range of actions to challenge and, in some cases, attempt to bring down governments. These actions can be nonviolent or violent, depending on the specific ideology and context.
Nonviolent & Disruptive Actions
Organizing workers and unions: Socialists have long advocated for collective action by the working class to exert economic and political pressure. This often involves forming and leveraging trade unions.
-Strikes: General strikes or specific workplace strikes are a primary form of direct action to obstruct normal economic activity and pressure the state or employers to meet demands.
-Mass protests and demonstrations: Mobilizing large numbers of people in the streets is used to show public outcry and put pressure on the government.
-Civil disobedience: This involves the nonviolent, intentional breaking of laws deemed unjust, such as refusing to pay specific taxes or participating in sit-ins or occupations.
-Information campaigns: This can involve educational efforts to raise class consciousness among workers and the general population and to promote socialist ideas as an alternative to the existing system.
Most of the give me’s and those who feel they the world is obligated to pay their way in life are NDP and have no respect for their fellow Albertan’s from what I have witnessed on social media and conversations with some of them.
Socialism destoryed many countries and bankrupt them and Canada is going down the same road Sweden went down several decades ago, until the end of the 80’s early 90’s when the started cutting back on some of the social programs, because income tax was over 40% of the wages earned.
Money just doesn’t fall from the sky like many NDP members appear to believe as they demand more, more and more, yet oppose every major project which would bring in revenues to support the give me’s!
I don’t know why you have a problem contacted his office and getting a response. Were you abusive and breach their abuse policies at one point so you were blocked from contacting them?
To end, my business is downtown in the West constituency and I live on the westside, but I have to go the Nathan with my concerns because the my MLA will not voice my concerns! I have zero issues getting a response!

Fedup Conservative

So explain to us conservatives why you allowed these Reformers to get control and destroy all the good Lougheed created for the good of the people? Having known Ralph Klein since 1960 when we were both 17 he never once called himself a conservative he always said he was a Liberal as his daughter Angie has pointed out in 2015 when interviewed.
When elected instead of carrying on where Lougheed and Getty left off looking after the well being of all Albertans he adopted Preston Manning’s Reform party polices and began destroying everything Lougheed had created and these Reformers are still doing it, or hadn’t you noticed?
So why would Albertans allow a Liberal to make fools of them and let them put us in financial ruin, and who would you vote for to stop these Reformers from destroying us completely or don’t you care about the wellbeing of our children and grandchildren?
All the conservatives I know have chosen the NDP to put a stop to this Reform Party insanity so why haven’t you? Or haven’t you noticed there is no one else? For the record it wasn’t the NDP who created a soon to be $500 billion oil well cleanup mess, a $89 billion debt and a $20 billion deficit so whining about them doesn’t make you look very smart does it?

Reality

MLA Neudorf is a stellar example of what a Member of Legislature should be. You mention “lack of engagement with constituents” quite contrary, MLA Nuedorf is VERY engaged and accessible at his office. MLA Miyashiro is as absent as his predecessor Shannon Phillips! I am a constituent in Lethbridge West and will attest to the inaccessibility of MLA Miyashiro and the fact that we have had to bring our concerns to MLA Nuedorf’s office for assistance which by the way we respectfully received! Who did constitutes SEE at Canada Day celebrations where MLA Nuedorf had a pavilion, likewise at the Alberta Next Panel, pancake breakfasts and in attendance at civic events. MLA Nuedorf was at MP Rachael Thomas’s Christmas event also at a variety of events and activities there he is and always open to receiving those who choose to engage. Just this Sunday, MLA Nuedorf hosted a family movie event at the movie mill, he was there greeting and welcoming all to the show, free popcorn, drinks and prizes! Miyashiro…… “crickets”!

Yeah you could just see the UCP zombies marching and falling off the cliff ..always regurgitating the same blah blah.. the NDP did this and did that… just like how trump keeps blaming Biden right to this day for anything .. in fact UCP and their supporters keep spinning their wheels and getting nowhere ..they’re too busy trashing the past. But that’s OK, they can pacify everyone with free popcorn drinks and prizes.. oh boy!

Reality

Oh, and this is “not connecting” with constituents? Miyashiro??? What has his constituents been treated to? Maybe time for a “recall”!

Chmie

Then explain Neudorf’s recent disappearance and silence during his “recall” petition? He only pops up when there is little risk of being questioned on Smith’s destructive policies. George
