Editor,
I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the decision of Michael Ma, the Member of Parliament for Markham-Unionville, to cross the floor and join the Liberal Party, having been elected under the Conservative Party banner.
Mr. Ma was elected as a Conservative by the constituents of Markham-Unionville to fight against Liberal inflationary spending that is driving up the cost of living in his community. T
oday, he has chosen to endorse the very policies he was elected to oppose—the same policies currently driving up food prices and making life more expensive for all. In my view, this action represents a betrayal of the constituents who voted for him based on his affiliation with the Conservative platform.
When an elected representative fundamentally disagrees with the party they were elected to serve, the appropriate course of action should be resignation from the caucus to sit as an independent member until the next general election.
This procedure would ensure that the integrity of the democratic process and the expressed will of the voters are respected. I believe parliamentary rules should be amended to prevent elected representatives from crossing the floor and changing party affiliation during a sitting term. This matter of democratic principle is a travesty and must be addressed.

So the true conservatives are finally realizing what an idiot Pierre Poilievre is and how dangerous he is for the well being of all Canadians. With his American Republican stupidity. There is nothing Conservative about him and we expect more true conservatives to realize it,
don’t you? Carney is a lot smarter than.
One might also believe that the MP is listening to their contituency and reacting to the divergence of their party from values espoused during the election.
Speaking of which, what sort of contortions have you gone through to free yourself of the uncomfortable memory of Dear Danielle crossing the floor? Was it principled or opportunistic?
Those that crossed the floor saw first hand a lot more wrong with Pierre than most outsiders ever will. There will be more so get used to it and accept the fact that the PC party needs a major overhaul.
Mr. Adamus, a Lethbridge constituent, wants to dictate party and democratic decorum to the constituents of Markham-Unionville and their MP.
Strange pot and kettle scenario?
So Stan Why is it when your so-called conservatives walk the floor like Danielle Smith and her 8 MLAs did from the Wildrose Party you Reform Party fools saw nothing wrong with it? Why are you ignoring the fact that Poilievre is no Conservative and Carney has proven he is a lot smarter than he will ever be. We think he is another Peter Lougheed.
