MLAs have responsibility to engage with their constituents

By Lethbridge Herald on December 24, 2025.

Editor,

I am writing to express my strong concern regarding the recent recall efforts targeting five UPC caucus members, which I believe are entirely justifiable. My own experience with our MLA, Nathan Neudorf, mirrors the frustrations voiced by the petitioners.

I recently contacted Mr. Neudorf’s office regarding an important community issue and, disappointingly, received no response from him or his staff.

It is imperative that our elected representatives, especially those who were voted into office, make themselves available and responsive to their constituents.

In stark contrast, I have consistently received prompt and courteous responses from our MP, Rachael Thomas, and her staff, whenever I have raised concerns. Similarly, local Councillor Dodic and Mayor Hyggen have always been responsive to my messages, regardless of their perceived triviality.

This lack of engagement from Mr. Neudorf raises questions about how many other constituents are being similarly overlooked.

A fundamental responsibility of an MLA is to serve and communicate with the people they represent, and I believe there is a significant shortfall in this area.

Stan Adamus

Unlike the true conservatives we have seen in the past these fake conservatives think that being elected gives them the right to do whatever they want and Albertans are finally realizing how dangerous these Reformers are to our well being and are putting a stop to it. The big question is Why did it take you so long to do it? Ignoring what we have been telling you doesn’t make you look very smart , does it?

Dwayne.W

Agree with you completely.

buckwheat

Yeh everyone was/is a fake conservative except your favorite Peter Lougheed.

Gandolf

Mr. Adamus. I completely and 100 percent agree with you. Those we have voted in should be made available to us. They don’t have to answer us on a dime, for example, the same day we’d call in, but, much like Rachel Thomas, if you would like to speak to her in person, she has designated one day a week to do that. As far as I know, it’s Monday’s. Granted, I tried to volunteer for her in a couple of spots over the summer, and have actually gone twice, even in person, yet, no reply, but that’s okay. I made mention that to her and will try again next year.

Fedup Conservative

There is nothing conservative about these fools at the provincial and federal levels.
My late parents and two sisters spent countless hours volunteering for a Lougheed and Getty governments. A brother in-law in his spare time voluntarily flew the government plane for them. Lougheed’s energy minister Bill Dickie was a brother in-law of one of my uncle’s and dad donated around $30,000. to their Conservative Party over the years. Yet we continue to hear the lies these Reformers continue to feed us while they destroy our children and grandchildren’s future with their massive debts where is the intelligence in that?

Gandolf

Rachel Thomas is more conservative than some of the recent conservatives we’ve had since the Ralph Klein era. Sure, he made some drastic changes all over the place, but, he did bring Alberta out of debt and we were in the black. So black that we received “Ralph Bucks” for hanging in there. He made it into law. However, some loop hole was found or something so it could be changed, and we are right back where we are. Oil is not going anywhere, so if oil companies don’t want to pay the royalties set, then so be it. Someone will come in eventually. Just a little food for thought

Fedup Conservative

So why don’t the intelligent conservatives agree with you? None of the ones I know do. She is just another Reformer . Those of us from the world of finance don’t believe the lie that Klein brought us out of debt when Ed Stelmach pointed out when he took over from Klein that he had made it worse by creating a $42 billion deficit and don’t forget the $260 billion oil well cleanup mess he dumped in our laps and giving us one of the highest costs of living in Canada. The highest power bills and highest property taxes, highest vehicle registration fees, highest vehicle insurance premiums and those are just part of it.
Why is that so hard for you ignorant seniors to understand?

Reality

Excuse me, MLA Neudorf is a stellar example of what a MLA should be. He firstly is a man of personal conviction who attends and supports his Church together with his family. He (and his wife and family) are out in the community attending various events and activities many of which he has either initiated or sponsored. At the events and gatherings or even while he is downtown shopping he is always open to meeting and greeting those who wish to engage (regardless of their constituency).

On the contrary to Mr. Adamus’s comment(s), MLA Neudorf and his office are always available and will get back with information in timely manner. As a constituent of Lethbridge West, I have, with no success tried to contact our MLA Mr. Miyashiro, I by default, contacted and gleaned satisfaction from MLA Neudorf’s office. I am in no way disputing the integrity of Mr. Adamus, however I suggest he may have approached Neudorf’s office at an off time and/or his request may have been lost in shuffle.

Fedup Conservative

Are you so ignorant that you can’t understand the fact that him and his Reform Party friends have created billions of dollars in debt that our children and grandchildren must face in the future?
Have you bothered to talked to any lawyers, accountants, economists, bankers, oilmen or former Social Credit and Conservative MLAs like we have who think you supporters are idiots for supporting them and should likely face lawsuits, would you like to try?

Fedup Conservative

Once again we see these senior idiots who blindly support these Reformers and are so stupid they can’t understand why no one agrees with them, you can’t be any dumber than that can you? So dumb they don’t care that no one agrees with anything they say, that’s how stupid they are?
More and more people are talking about starting a “ go fund account “ to raise money and start suing these idiots on behalf of our children for the financial disaster they have helped these Reformers create for them to face deliberately destroying their future, can you see any reason they shouldn’t?
