University of Lethbridge students deserve more respect

The University of Lethbridge had a controversial figure show up unannounced and uninvited on Wednesday with the express intent of causing a scene to post to her followers on social media. She spouted hateful, racist rhetoric under the guise of free speech. Students gathered in protest, utilizing their own free speech to drown out her rhetoric through volume.
My class was cancelled because of the noise disturbance. The university, rather than removing someone for intentionally causing a disturbance in their learning environment, brought security out to defend and reinforce her. They legitimized the invitation she had created for herself. By providing her security, the University of Lethbridge supported her in creating her disturbance for social media. She wasn’t invited to speak. She decided to intentionally cause a scene for views, and this cost the university’s students and staff time, money, and security. The university did nothing to defend their students, their staff, or their environment and enabled her presence for over six hours.
What if she decides to come back again? How many classes do I, or my fellow students, need to lose before the university will respect us? Or, to speak in their terms, where is my refund for failing to provide me with a service I paid for?

Simply put, draw some heads out of the sand. $215 million wasted and can you tell me how many missing, murdered children were NOT discovered? Maybe you could get a passing mark on this question!

It’s no different than these mindless seniors believing every lie these Reformers feed them and help them create billions of dollars in debt for our children and grandchildren to face without any concern for their future. In other words there is nothing Conservative about them, is there?
This Reform Party Clown Pierre Poilievre helps those criminal convoy truckers create a $37 million debt for the citizens of Ottawa and a $6 billion economic disaster for Canadians and these Alberta seniors show no respect to the Conservatives in Ottawa for kicking him out, that’s how stupid they are, aren’t they?

Lougheed’s energy minister Bill Dickie was a brother in-law of one of my uncles and I haven’t forgotten how fed up Lougheed and his MLAs were with you fools for supporting these Reformers and helping them create this mess. Can you explain where they are going to find funds to pay a $90 billion debt, a $260 billion oil well cleanup mess, and for a $30 billion deficit to pay for road and bridge repairs and build 60 new schools we desperately need because the lawyers, accountants, economists, oilmen, bankers and former MLAs in my world don’t think they can?
Can you see any reason why they shouldn’t start some class action lawsuits and sue the fools who helped create this mess , would you like to try?
Seniors in Edmonton who have family in Ottawa tell about how disgusted their children were with that idiot Pierre Poilievre. While he praised these criminals Convoy Truckers and bought them coffee and donuts, he showed them no respect for horrible nightmares they were put through. Young children terrified by horns blowing all night and their parents being forced to go to work without any sleep yet this idiot didn’t care. Bad mouthing Trudeau for using the Emergency Act to put a stop to his stupidity made them furious so they kicked him out, wouldn’t you?
Now these mindless mostly senior idiots in Alberta have re-elected him twice to prove how stupid they are. Wouldn’t you think that they would have respected the conservatives in Ottawa’s decision or at least found out why they kicked him, but Alberta seniors aren’t smart enough to think about that, are they?
That’s why our children and grandchildren have this multi billion dollar financial mess to face them in the future while they hurl their sarcastic comments at us for not being as stupid as them and trying to stop these Reform Party idiots from destroying our children’s future, that’s how stupid they are, isn’t it?
I think the lawyers are right. We should be starting some class action lawsuits on behalf of our children and grandchildren and suing these Reform Party idiots and their mindless senior supporters, what do you think?

Those of us who had ties to the oil industry know how pleased the oil executives were with Trudeau for paying $34 billion for a pipeline that literally saved thousands of jobs and what do these stupid seniors do to show their appreciation?

who know who I blame for our current Alberta debt? “Not So Steady” Eddy Stelmech. He alone dismantled what Ralph Klein created. A debt free Alberta with dividends to be paid out later. Yes, Ralph dismantled a lot of things but, you have to work within your means and be accountable for your funds. It doesn’t matter if you are UCP, Conservative, Reform, Christian Party, Liberal, NDP, or the Rhino party, accountability and responsibility of where your money goes is key. Lethbridge had a decent police force, even the station was open day/night on the weekends. Don’t have that now. So what is a person suppose to do if they need help and can’t get to the phone? Or if they do have a phone, what’s the point of calling when it’s going to take 2 to 3 hours for them to show up?
For the record I had know Ralph Klein since we were both 17 years old and he was the mastermind behind destroying this province and I certainly knew what a jerk he was, even members of his own family refused to support him and praising him doesn’t make you look very smart does it? Dad called him that sleazy bastard, long before he ever got into politics. When he was campaigning to become premier his mother Flo told my mother that she didn’t think he capable of running this province properly and no one in our family ever supported him. So why did you? You obviously believe the lies you were fed, didn’t you?
Who do you think gave us the highest power bills in Canada, the highest property taxes, the highest vehicle registration fees, the highest vehicle insurance premiums, the highest long term health care premiums, and the highest cost for getting a driver’s license for new drivers and he was the guy who dumped the cost of the oil well clean up mess onto our backs. Like oilmen know all too well.
When he was closing hospitals and cutting 5,000 nursing positions his father Phil said to me Al what in the hell is the matter with that son of mine? While he gives away billions in oil royalties he is forcing us to try to live without our proper healthcare system. This will cost some people their lives and I knew of 8 lawsuits that were launched against Klein that were deaths attributed to his healthcare cuts.
I helped 9 doctors and at least two dozen nurses relocate out of this province and not one wanted to go, they had family here.
This lie that Klein eliminated our debt was a complete lie he actually made it worse as previous MLAs knew all too well, and Ed Stelmach cut our royalties even further and made the situation even worse, just like Danielle Smith has been doing. Destroying Lougheed’s protection on our mountains was a huge mistake by these Reformers starting with Jason Kenney. If you had bothered to do any research on these fake conservatives or Ralph Klein’s record, or talked to any lawyers, accountants, economists, oilmen, bankers or former MLAs you would be a lot smarter.

It’s a well known fact the Ralph Bucks cost Alberta taxpayers $4 billion and he didn’t care that he didn’t have it and it was added to our debt. People were furious with him for doing it.
So Alberta has $30 billion in their savings account and an $90 billion debt, and Alaska has plus $85 billion in theirs and every man, woman and child has received each $52,000. In total annual oil dividend cheques and Norway has $2 trillion in theirs.
That’s how stupid Albertans are. We know we have lost $1.4 trillion by helping the rich steal it from us while these mindless seniors helped them do it by not helping us kick them out. That’s how stupid they are, aren’t they?
Ralph Bucks was not getting Alberta out of debt. That was a very stupid thing to do, and even Peter Lougheed said so. That money should have been saved, because oil prices could easily crash, which is what happened afterwards.
So, let me get this straight. You have free speech but only if it lines with that of the university. How can we have a difference of opinion and dialogue if only one side is presented? Okay, maybe she wasn’t invited this time, but wasn’t she invited before, or another speaker, and before being able to speak on their views, keyboard warriors went online to find out who they are, and already voiced an opinion? Aren’t you “innocent until proven guilty”? Let’s also look at their radio station, CKXU 88.3FM. I know of a few political shows that are quite left leaning, and if you make a comment to the programmer/DJ about the topic, they’ll continue to spew one side of the conversation. Never answering the question. Sounds like what happens in Parliament during question/answer period. All questions, no answer. Also, during the radio programming, there’s this clip “The following opinions are that of the individual DJ and does not reflect the university as a whole. Listener discretion is advised.” Yet, I recall a number of years back a DJ wanted to do an Alex Jones type show, and he got the boot because he was “too radical.” Yet, the warning snippet didn’t matter. We have the right to listen to what is being heard/talked about and if you don’t like it, then please do us all a favor and just put your earbuds in or noise cancelling headphones and avoid it. How would those who protested feel if THEIR speaker got interrupted for their views? Works both ways
This event was simply an attention getting stunt. No more appropriate than walking up and down the hallways bleating on a trombone. What would be appropriate is booking a venue and inviting people to come.
It is rich that that the alt-right speaks of free speech in Universities while they interfere with funding and intimidate ‘dangerous professors’ that don’t align with their conspiracy-laden christofascist views.

Interesting you mention Alex Jones as the model – someone convicted of spreading hateful, hurtful lies. Does a University not have a responsibility to promote truthful dialogue? We’re not talking about ‘differing arguements’ once one encroaches on hate speech.
I said someone like Alex Jones, not him himself Also, you can’t have a truthful conversation if you don’t have both sides of the story. The only reasonable news coverage they have is from Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, but, even her views are a little left leaning.
