AT THE LEGISLATURE
Nathan Neudorf – UCP MLA for Lethbridge East
As we celebrate Canada’s birthday this July, it’s a time to reflect not only on our shared history but also on the strength and resilience that each province brings to our great nation. Alberta has always punched above its weight—and today, more than ever, Canada needs a strong Alberta.
From the golden fields of the Prairies to the cutting-edge labs of Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta is a powerhouse of productivity and innovation. Our farmers feed the nation and the world, producing high-quality grains, beef, and canola with a pioneering spirit that’s been passed down through generations. Agriculture isn’t just our heritage—it’s our future, and we’re investing in sustainable practices and agri-tech to ensure we remain leaders on the global stage.
Here in Southern Alberta, we see that spirit every day. Lethbridge and the surrounding region are home to some of the most productive farmland in the country, supported by world-class irrigation infrastructure and a thriving agri-food sector. Our post-secondary institutions—like the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Polytechnic—are at the forefront of research, innovation, and workforce development. The University of Lethbridge is a leader in water and environmental sciences, while Lethbridge Polytechnic equips students with hands-on skills in agriculture, trades, technology, and health care. Together, they are preparing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers who will help shape Alberta’s future.
Food is one of our greatest contributions to Canada and the world. Southern Alberta is a hub for food production and processing, from family-run farms to major agri-businesses. We grow the ingredients that fill Canadian kitchens and export to global markets. Our beef is world-renowned, our grains are essential to food security, and our innovation in food science is helping to feed a growing planet more sustainably.
Economically, Alberta continues to be a driving force. Our energy sector has long been a cornerstone of Canada’s prosperity, and we’re leading the way in responsible resource development and clean energy innovation. Alberta’s entrepreneurs are building the next generation of technology companies, supported by a growing ecosystem of venture capital and research institutions.
Innovation is in our DNA. Whether it’s artificial intelligence, clean tech, or life sciences, Alberta is home to some of the brightest minds and boldest ideas in the country. We’re not just adapting to the future—we’re helping to shape it.
But Alberta’s strength is more than economic. It’s a spirit—a pioneering, can-do attitude that has always defined who we are. It’s the spirit of communities coming together in times of need, of families building a better life, and of leaders who believe in the potential of every Albertan.
As we look to the future, let’s remember that a strong Alberta means a stronger Canada. Let’s continue to lead, to innovate, and to grow—together.

The question I have for the UCP member is “does encouraging Alberta separation make it stronger?” You dodge addressing this issue in ur self promoting babble and also forget to mention ur government’s numerous policies that have ignored the wishes of majority of Albertans. Now go back to warming ur seat and please try to accomplish something that ur constituents desire instead of blaming others for ur failures.
Look how well Alberta has done within a united Canada.
If MLA Neudorf believed what they wrote, they would protect the quality of irrigation water from contamination by (unnecessary) coal mines.
If MLA Neudorf believed what they wrote, they would unshackle renewable energy development in the province.
But overall the letter was an amusing display of an autocratic government lauding the can-do spirit of innovation.
We’re such a strong Alberta in that we have the highest number of completely preventable measles cases in this country.
We’re such a strong Alberta because we have the lowest dollar funded public education system and the highest subsidization of private education in this country.
We’re such a strong Alberta because we have a premier who is talking out of both sides of her mouth in order to appease the separatist movement, a sure-fire way of contributing to the mla’s idea of a stronger Canada.
We’re such a strong Alberta because the current GoA punches down on the most vulnerable residents in this province and then boasts about it in declaring the 8.3 billion $ surplus, all at the expense of people and the environment – all to make for a stronger Canada, according to the mla.
We’re such a strong Alberta because thousands and thousands of residents are without a family doctor and the health care system has been shattered into four ineffectual highly bureaucratic entities. Such a remarkable contribution to the notion of a stronger Canada, according to the mla.
And this just barely scrapes the surface of this mla’s notion of how great it is under his government’s authoritarian control.
Shame.
