I have been one of those people who has relied on email to both ask and answer questions, to ask for an action item, or to provide information. In a world when people complain that email communication has information-overloaded their life and extended work hours in a digital world beyond reason, I think it is time for me to consider each email before I send it: Is this message necessary? Will this information or question serve enough of a purpose to justify sending it? My New Year’s resolution in 2017 is to send fewer emails and to have more in-person conversations, when necessary. Happy New Year!
