There’s no need to argue

The advocacy group from Blood Tribe has been posting information on The Blood Tribe Treaty Entitlement Cattle Claim, and we undertook to bring forward correct information for our members. In the various media postings, some are commenting on the arguing with Chief and council, and others are saying about arguing amongst ourselves in the community. We would strongly recommend that we don’t need to argue with each other, we are practicing our freedom of speech and posting factual and accurate statements as per memberships’ Treaty Rights contained in Treaty 7 and powers of Chief and Council as per the Indian Act, Referendum Laws contained in the Federal Referendum Act and the Indian Act. We also secured legal opinions which support our findings and the misrepresentations of the referendum vote by Chief and Council.

Some of the duties of trustees contained in trust laws which have not been met in the past 20 years.

1. Duty to provide financial information to the beneficiaries.

2. Duty to provide information to the beneficiaries.

3. Duty to carry out the Trust Agreement to the best interest of the beneficiaries.

4. Duty to consult with beneficiaries.

Failure of Trustees to follow the duties of the trustee:

1. No Audited Financial Statements have been provided.

2. No information provided, i.e., plans for the different projects.

3. Failure to act to the best interest of the beneficiaries.

4. Failure to consult with beneficiaries as per any changes to the Trust Agreements.

We are bringing information to membership about our Chief and council’s and trustees failure in following the mismanagement of Assets Trust Agreement, as well as previous Akers Trust Agreement and as Blood Tribe members the beneficiaries of the trust it is our right to hold our elected leaders accountable and transparent. When the current Blood Tribe Treaty Entitlement Cattle Claim Trust Agreement is voted on and if it is approved then we would have over $200 million trust monies whereby the trustees are totally disregarding in following the trust agreement.

In ending as members of Blood Tribe we should all be concerned by the conduct of our leaders in totally disregarding our requests for information and adjusting the current referendum to meet all the legal requirements. We don’t need to argue about this, it is fact.
