Lethbridge fortunate to have a symphony and so much musical talent

By Lethbridge Herald on May 7, 2022.

Editor:

I just returned home after attending an outstanding performance of Brahms’ German Requiem by the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra with Vox Musica. What a truly uplifting experience.

The Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Glenn Klassen with choral music by Vox Musica directed by Joanne Collier and members of Luminous Voices and soloists, deserve a shout-out of thanks for giving us such a musical respite.

In a world full of pessimism, cynicism and negativity it was a joy to be part of the audience experiencing such a positively brilliant musical performance which brought me to tears several times.

As we all rose spontaneously for several standing ovations it appears I was not the only one so moved.

Directly in front of me sat a young mother holding her young son through the entire 80 minutes.

Behind me was an older lady with her cane resting beside her.

How fortunate we are to live in a diverse city of 100,000 with so much musical talent and a symphony orchestra supported by the city of Lethbridge.

As I was reading through the concert program I noticed the symphony’s mission statement:

“Too create and promote a first class orchestra producing memorable musical experiences for audiences of all ages.”

This has definitely been achieved.

I thank you.
