Thoughts on climate change and the budget surplus

By Lethbridge Herald on July 13, 2022.

Regarding the recent heading “Climate change causing anxiety in youth.”

Is it any wonder? They’ve been told since Grade One about this climate nonsense. I’d be scared out of my wits, too.

So no more plastic containers – probably a good idea. No mention of what’s going to take their place – makes  you wonder.

Hooray, we’ve got a $3.9 billion surplus. So what are the powers that be going to do with it? We’ve got this horrible dark cloud of debt hanging over us so use this $3.9 billion to pay down the debt. It will save us millions in interest.

Since money really, does talk, one would wonder how long it would take for the realization to register that it’s costing us $trillions in climate change severe weather episode mitigation.
Re: $billions?…The absolute worst re: $hundreds of billions lost by AB Conservatives not following Lougheed’s ‘Six Principles’ for resource development, i.e. “Behave like an owner, Collect your fair share, Save for a rainy day, Add value, Go slow, and Practice statecraft.” On and on….the $30 billion infrastructure debt left from the Klein era of which is still impacting us today. $billions on an iffy pipeline. The $4 billion in question on how the UCP spent it during the pandemic. $30 million/year on the ridiculous War Room. Kenney UCP $4.7-billion-no-jobs- corporate giveaway. $2.1 billion lost when oil-by-rail contracts cancelled by the UCP. And:
The $billions in Kenney cuts: How do Kenney’s cuts affect you?

Sadly, it’s going to take $billions to fix the UCP mess.
