Premier Smith’s ads in the newspaper show weak leadership

By Lethbridge Herald on October 21, 2023.

Editor:

Regarding Premier Danielle Smith’s full page ads in the Lethbridge Herald and other Alberta newspapers (Sept. 27, re: Alberta Pension Plan and Oct.6, re: electricity regulations.):

There is an old saying, “Profanity is the sign of a weak mind trying to express itself strongly.” To paraphrase, “Running full page ads in Alberta newspapers is the sign of a weak premier trying to express strong leadership.”

I urge Premier Smith, Lethbridge East MLA Nathan Neudorf, and all other United Conservative MLA’s to stop wasting Albertans’ tax dollars for purely partisan political propaganda.

Before the onslaught of negativity, thought I would simply say “nicely put”, something that most Albertans would agree with.

Robert King Brown – “If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell” (Carl Sandburg)
Perhaps you should at least wait until you have all the facts before pounding the table?

How many more facts do you need, or aren’t you capable of understanding the stupidity behind it? It’s a well known fact that Reformers only solution to any problem is to blame it on someone else just like Pierre Poilievre has been doing. It’s always Trudeau’s fault yet he has poured billions into Alberta to help us.

The lies these fools are spreading are incredible. Their latest one is the fact that somehow Trudeau is responsible for our high power bills when he had nothing to do it. One of the former MLAs from the Lougheed era stated to me “ Deregulation of electricity is the dirtiest trick Ralph Klein could have played on the Alberta people. This will cost us billions. Just think of what to will do to our healthcare and education systems, they use a lot of electricity. Dad was a power plant engineer and he certainly knew it was Klein’s fault after our family had known his family personally since the early 1960s and knew what a jerk he was.of course if these reform party fools had left Notley’s caps on the system they wouldn’t now be trying to find someone else to blame, would they?

Am getting sick and tired of the fear-mongering (electrical rates ads that are playing on the radio and internet paid for by the Alberta Government (you and me).
This is an abuse of power, all for personal gain.
Vote out the divisive extremist leader and kind.

My friends and I are all former longtime conservative supporters and some of us have had friends and relatives who were involved in the Lougheed and Getty conservative governments and were proud of . Yet like you we have had it with these idiots , Reformers, and their ignorant supporters, calling us names for not being as dumb as they are. Totally ignorant of what they have done to this province and our children’s future.
We are all in our 80s and 90s and figure their supporters, many of which are in the same age bracket as us should be a lot smarter but they aren’t. Police officers in our group aren’t surprised by the ignorance they display because they have had to deal with the all the con artists activity these seniors are so famous for getting involved with.

For what it’s worth, my wife and I strongly agree with the position advanced by Mr. King-Brown in his letter.
