Back alley waste pickup not working on Heritage Blvd.

I am seriously at odds with city council, or at least some of them for putting my waste pickup back in the alley.  I have spoken to staff of the waste management who assured me it was not their idea after their studies of safety and economics prior to the latest shift to the alley. 

 I was told their recommendations were overruled by council.  Our alley, for one, is not paved with a heavy enough lift for these trucks, and now we have them going down the alley twice a week.  

The pavement was breaking up when the trucks were last using the alley for waste pickup.  I asked many times for alley repair due to pavement breaking up but little was done to help this problem.  As taxpayers, we paid a lot of money to have this alley paved. We have many seniors on Heritage Blvd W. with health issues including myself.  

It is all my wife and I can do to keep the sidewalks clear.  

We all have front drive garages on Heritage Blvd. W. and it has worked well for front pickups. 

 I hope someone can track the number of heart attacks from shovelling back yards and clearing back gates. 

 I wish council would listen to their workers and citizens instead of putting power over reason.  I spend a lot of time walking on Heritage Blvd. W. and talking to people and I know they are not happy with this change on the south side of the 600 and 700 block of Heritage Blvd. W.  Save the alley from the trucks and lives from the shovelling.

DREKE: THE ONLY JURISDICTION THE CITY COUNCIL HAS DEALING WITH WASTE,&RECYCLE IS APPROVING RATES AND BYLAW.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE DAY WHEN THEY APPROVED BYLAW 6146 DELEGATED THE”‘ENGINEER” STATUS TO THE DIRECTOR OF INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES WHO DETERMINES THE METHOD OF COLLECTION.
WE HAVE A 20-FOOT WIDE BACKLANE PAVED DESTROYED BY WASTE TRUCKS. WE OWN HALF OF WITH OUR PROPERTY FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS THE CITY WASTE TRUCKS HAVE TRAVELLED AND CAUSED DEEP RUTS. WE RECEIVED A SECOND LETTER FROM GM WASTE& RECYCLE OUR CARTS MUST BE PLACED ON FRONT STREET BLACK ONLY IS PLACED OUT DO NOT DEAL WITH RECYCLE OR GREEN CARTS DO NOT NEED THEM USE CONVENIANT NON-MANDATORY RECYCLE DEPOTS AND CITY BACKYARD COMPOSTER, COSTS $3.60 ON THE MONTHLY BILL.
THE NEW ‘ENGINEER.” MIGHT LISTEN TO YOUR COMPLAINT FOUND A WASTE OF TIME TRYING TO DEAL WITH COUNCILOR THEY HAVE NO JURISDICTION ATTITUDE
