Calgarians’ thoughts are often with neighbours in southern Alberta

By Lethbridge Herald on March 2nd, 2024

Editor: Folks in southern Alberta are on the front lines of a drought that is looking like it will have wide impacts across sectors and swaths of our province this year. I was glad to spend an evening in the Spring Point Community Hall west of Fort Macleod one evening two weeks ago, hearing farmers ... Read More »

Smith deserves even less respect after time with Tucker Carlson

By Lethbridge Herald on March 1st, 2024

Editor: Recently our premier Danielle Smith spent air time with former and disgraced Fox News host Tucker Carlson.  I had very little respect for our premier before then and even less now. Carlson recently did another political interview with the psychopathic, murderous Russian leader Vladimir Putin.  Carlson asked no pointed questions and seemed subservient to ... Read More »

Open pit coal mining should be a dead issue in the province

By Lethbridge Herald on February 28th, 2024

Editor: You know, Igor’s got a lot to answer for. He’s the one who keeps going out, digging up the bodies, hauling them up to the top of the castle, hooking up the electrodes…then… after the monster has gone lurching through the village, goes back out, gathering up spare parts for the Monster Mark II, ... By Lethbridge Herald on February 17th, 2024

Editor: Cities are not easy to run. There are so many decisions to make that mistakes are inevitable. The bike lanes on 7th Street downtown are a prime example of a dangerous and costly mistake. I’m sure the decision was made with good intent, especially when our city was sharing the initial cost with another ... Read More »

By Lethbridge Herald on February 17th, 2024

Amount generated from electricity sources varies

By Lethbridge Herald on February 16th, 2024

Editor: The letter from Mr. Barrie Orich of February 1 makes some interesting points but also consists of inaccuracies.  Just because wind and solar resources are variable doesn’t make them ineffective or valueless.   As for electricity storage there are 190 megawatts (MW) of battery storage and, this winter there has been roughly 300MW’s of ...
