Editor: read the news about the Apostolic Signatura’s decision in relation to St. Patrick’s in Lethbridge, and the letter from Josephine Aristone, with interest. With Catholic churches closing across the country for financial and pastoral reasons, and likely to be moreso at an even quicker rate in a post-Covid world, I agree with Josephine’s comment, ... Editor: On 12th May 2020, MP Rachael Harder produced and shared a FaceBook assault on the then Heritage Minister’s attempt to stifle COVID 19 misinformation (according to Harder). Her main point was to defend free speech. I am not questioning the correctness of her position, rather I am wondering whether she supports Premier Kenney’s recent ... Read More »

overnment used my tax money to fund a war room to battle the environment and apply conversion therapy to people and groups who are under the mad delusion that oil and gas development has negative impacts on the environment. But I worry no longer, now that I see the Alberta War Room warning parents and ... Read More »

Editor: Re: “Coal industry lobbied hard to change Coal Policy” – Lethbridge Herald, March 9. In a March 15 pronouncement Jason Kenney, speaking from a lectern inscribed with the slogan “Standing Up for Albertans” made this statement: “At the end of the day ordinary Alberta voters are the boss in our democracy”. But before that ... Read More »

Editor: I am not a Liberal Party supporter; never voted for them. But I dislike the way some people call Justin Trudeau a “former drama teacher” to mock him. Drama, as in many forms of art, is important for the quality of life. It forces us to advance our skills in thinking. Also it teaches ... Read More »

Editor: The Calgary Catholic Diocese under the Guidance of now retired Bishop Henry closed St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for the last 10 years for no viable reason. The Vatican has disagreed with the Diocese and agreed with the Parishioners who brought forward a grievance against this closure. St. Patrick’s is no longer a shuttered church. ... Read More »

Editor: Some weeks ago Sonya Savage (Energy Minister) announced there would be “no mountain top removal” on our eastern slopes That was supposed to quiet down the outcry from disbelievers of the mining process in our headwaters. Now our premier has just recently announced that if you leave 10 per cent of the mountain top ... Read More »

Editor: As the world turns, sometimes a new challenge comes along to give us all a fleeting vision into the state of humankind. The Covid-19 pandemic has offered us that opportunity. I have witnessed the best and the worst of human nature. More on that at a later time. I want to state where I ... Read More »

Editor: I have written many letters over the past 70 years and have not mailed one of them. Perhaps this will be the one that makes it to you. I retired from nursing just as computers were coming in so I am a tech idiot. I didn’t, or was unable, to learn on my own ... Read More »

Dear Minister Savage. RE: Coal Policy Reinstatement I draw to your attention that the Piikani First Nation is a member of the Blackfoot Confederacy in Treaty 7. Our community is in the South West corner of Alberta and our territory is inclusive of the Crowsnest Pass where exploration is moving forward with the Grassy Mountain ... Read More »

Editor: Neighbourhood by neighbourhood, the City is forcing all residents to front street waste pickup. Even in neighbourhoods that have had 50 years of problem-free alley pickup. Even where narrow streets are not designed for large trucks and are already choked by two-way traffic. Changing for the sake of change? Such a radical change to ... Read More »
