Brian Keating talk was truly entertaining

By Lethbridge Herald on November 23rd, 2022

Editor: I was delighted when I heard Brian Keating was coming to Lethbridge so my wife and I immediately registered.   We have been listening to him for over 30 years on CBC Calgary. It was always exciting to hear where Brian was that week.  He always had entertaining, educational insights into a place in the ... Read More »

Seniors need some relief from rising costs

By Lethbridge Herald on November 23rd, 2022

Editor: While the council deliberates possible tax increases, for God’s sake please remember we are suffering under a tremendous inflation load.  Some sort of relief should be available to seniors on fixed incomes in order to survive.  We can hardly afford to feed ourselves, never mind fund municipal initiatives that are not absolutely mandatory. Peter ... Read More »

Nathan Neudorf needs to lessen the negative impact of the premier

By Lethbridge Herald on November 17th, 2022

Editor:  I read with some interest MLA Nathan Neudorf’s article in the Saturday Herald. While I agree with you, Mr. Neudorf, that the Albertans in the south need a voice, I only hope your voice will be the voice of reason to a cabinet that is loaded with, what I believe is, unqualified people in ... Americans are fantastic people from a distance

By Lethbridge Herald on November 17th, 2022

Editor: We breathed a sigh of relief following the ongoing saga of the U.S. mid-term election. At the time of this writing, according to a Globe and Mail commentator, it seems to have reached a “least bad” result without a catastrophe. I remember hearing a high ranking U.S. politician congratulating fellow Americans when President Nixon ... Read More »

Time will tell if Albertans determine Danielle Smith should be premier

By Lethbridge Herald on November 11th, 2022

Editor: I will grant Ms. Smith, our premier-in-waiting, one thing and that is following through on promises made before and during the leadership race. Specifically, her intention of overhauling the health care system and mandating, yes mandating, the non-wearing of masks in schools.  Given her dubious assertion that the dangers of mask wearing are “well ... Statistics show people who consider themselves Christian in Lethbridge a minority

By Lethbridge Herald on November 10th, 2022

Editor:  I read with great interest the latest 2021 Census data which presented data on, amongst other things, the state of religion in Canada, Alberta, and even good ole Lethbridge. The results were fascinating and, I believe, should serve to break a myth that has persisted about Lethbridge for far too long. The myth: Lethbridge ... Read More »

Collisions at University Drive/Garry Drive intersection preventable

By Lethbridge Herald on November 10th, 2022

Editor:  Three weeks ago, at around 8 in the evening, I pressed the crosswalk button on the northeast corner of Heritage Boulevard and University Drive.  When the traffic had stopped on University Drive, the Walk signal came on and I proceeded across University Drive, conscious that this was a well-lit intersection – so well-lit in ... The UCP and its greed-driven agenda a threat to all Albertans

By Lethbridge Herald on November 9th, 2022

Editor: Re: AT THE LEGISLATURE Opinion – Oct. 19, 2022 Hiding behind a thin veneer of vague platitudes and gratuitous victory laps, MLA Nathan Neudorf hopes his embellishment of Lethbridge’s prestige will inspire confidence in his party – a party that has been undeniably adept at failing Albertans, as well as public healthcare.  If we ... No amount of talk or meetings are going to solve the homelessness issue

By Lethbridge Herald on November 4th, 2022

Editor: There appears to be a lot of talk about homelessness and tent cities or encampments in Lethbridge this year and no one appears to know how to deal with it and come up with a solution other than talk about it and move a few homeless people around.   One letter to the editor on ... Danielle Smith showing she’s not a quality leader for Alberta

By Lethbridge Herald on November 4th, 2022

Editor: In less than a month, Danielle Smith has proven she is not a wise and thoughtful leader.  She publicly messaged her base claiming they’d been ‘discriminated against like nothing [she has] ever seen’ implying, ‘The non-vaccinated among you may have made the wrong decision. Now you need my help. I will now stand on ... Read More »

Bank of Canada rate hikes pushing Canada into a recession

By Lethbridge Herald on November 4th, 2022

Editor: Both the UCP and NDP have been very critical of the Bank of Canada’s (B of C) rapid interest rate increases, citing the hardship it is causing Canadians, in fact NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was interviewed on CTV saying “there’s absolutely no merit” to the banks approach to fighting inflation. Both parties are calling ... Read More »
